When do I Replace a Toner Cartridge in the Samsung ML-2851ND Laser Printer?

The toner cartridge installed in your Samsung ML-2851ND Laser Printer is a consumable component that contains the photoconductive drum (OPC drum), the cleaning blade (OPC cleaning), the EEP ROM, and the toner (1 component pulverized toner). You should install a new toner cartridge if:

‘’65 CRU Error’’ is displayed – This is an indication for a missing toner cartridge or a faulty/damaged cartridge EEP ROM. You should try to resolve the problem by reinstalling the toner cartridge correctly. Please install a new toner cartridge if the problem is still present afterwards.

Black vertical lines and/or dark vertical band occur on the printouts – The most common cause of this print quality issue is a damaged charge roller in the toner cartridge. You should install a new toner cartridge to solve the problem.

White vertical voids – The useful life of the installed toner cartridge has expired. You must install a new toner cartridge.

Dark, blurry, or/and white spots occurring periodically at intervals of 75.5mm on the printouts – The OPC drum surface is damaged. A new toner cartridge must be installed.

Light printouts – The toner of the installed toner cartridge is almost consumed. You should install a new toner cartridge soon.

Uneven print density – The installed toner cartridge is at the end of its useful life. You should install a new toner cartridge.

Gray background – The most common cause of this print quality problem is an exhausted toner cartridge. Therefore, you should install a new toner cartridge.

Ghosting at 75.5mm intervals – The drum of the installed toner cartridge has been exhausted. You must install a new toner cartridge.

Stains on the printed side of the documents – The installed toner cartridge is defective or damaged (toner leakage). Please install a new toner cartridge.

The red [Status] LED is on – The installed toner cartridge is either empty or not intended for use in your Samsung ML-2851ND Laser Printer. Please install a new, supported toner cartridge.

The red [Status] LED is blinking – Your Samsung ML-2851ND Laser Printer has detected a low toner level. You should install a new toner cartridge soon.

Overview:

Samsung's ML-2851ND offers a no thrills approach to printing without any finishing features. It is perfect for businesses that need to print documents and graphics. Print speeds with this printer are 20 pages per minute in both color and black and white.

Pros:

Consumables for the Samsung ML-2851ND are reasonably priced and will help to keep your printing cost down.
The Samsung ML-2851ND can be connected using a USB 2.0 cable or through a network by using a wireless router. Attaching it to your network is as easy as installing the driver onto the host computer and then simply connecting an Ethernet cable from the printer to your router.
Print quality is excellent thanks to 1,200 dpi resolution. Text prints are crisp and clear and readable at 4 point fonts. Color prints show no signs of dithering or smudging. Dark lines are thick and clear.
Options for the Samsung ML-2851ND include "Print all text to black" and "Print all text to darken". These options will allow the printer to make dark lines and text even darker, enhancing those solid characters for extra emphasis. Portraits are of acceptable quality, and are on par with text quality which is fine since laser printers were not designed for graphics anyways.

Cons:

The Samsung ML-2851ND isn’t that well designed. Most people would love to have a more stylish looking printer in their office. Another setback of this printer is that it only comes with a 250 sheet paper tray. For most medium sized businesses that means you will have to add paper on a regular basis. It also lacks finishing features and as a result you will need to staple and collate your documents on your own.
