There are three different types (based on cartridge capacity) of toner cartridges available for your Samsung ML-3471ND Monochrome Laser Printer:
· Starter toner cartridge – The toner cartridge supplied with the printer. The Samsung ML-3471ND Monochrome Laser Printer can print up to 3,500 A4 pages at 5% coverage with a Starter toner cartridge.
· Standard toner cartridge – Yields approx. 4,000 A4 pages at 5% coverage.
· High-yield toner cartridge – An extended capacity cartridge that yields about 2.5 times more pages (approx. 10,000) than the Standard toner cartridge.
Please note that the actual number of prints possible with one toner cartridge varies depending on the type of the printed documents, the operating environment, and the printing patterns. You can check how much toner is left in the installed toner cartridge from the [Supplies Life] section of the [Maintenance] menu, or by using the Smart Panel program. The lifespan of the installed toner cartridge can be extended by:
· Activating Toner Save – This mode saves toner by decreasing the print image density. You can activate this mode by pressing the [Toner Save] button that is located between the [Menu] and the [Status] buttons on the control panel of the laser printer. Please be aware that print quality may become unsatisfactory when the Toner Save mode is activated.
· Using the Light toner density (Darkness) setting
The Samsung ML-3471ND Monochrome Laser Printer notifies the user when an installed consumable reaches the end of its useful life. Please be aware that some hardware abnormalities cannot be detected by the built-in monitoring system of the machine. You should replace the installed toner cartridge when/if any of the listed control panel indications, LCD messages, and print quality problems appears.
· The red [Status] LED is lit or flashes – You should switch the Samsung ML-3471ND Monochrome Laser Printer off, and then check it for paper jams. After that, you must switch the printer back on, and then check the indicators on the control panel. Please replace the installed toner cartridge if the problem persists.
· A toner-life warning appears in the window of the Smart Panel program
· The message [Install Toner] is displayed – This message indicates that the toner cartridge is defective, not installed, or installed incorrectly. Thus, you should try to solve the problem by reinstalling the toner cartridge as described in ‘’How to Install a Toner Cartridge in the Samsung ML-3471ND Monochrome Laser Printer’’. Please replace the installed toner cartridge if the problem persists.
· The message [Invalid Toner] is displayed – You have installed an incompatible toner cartridge. Please replace the installed toner cartridge with a new, supported one.
· The message [Toner Low] is displayed – The installed toner cartridge is nearly empty. You should replace the nearly empty toner cartridge soon to avoid print quality problems.
· The message [Non-Genuine Toner] is displayed – The installed toner cartridge is a non-OEM product. You can allow the usage of the non-OEM toner cartridge by selecting [<Continue>].
· The message [Replace Toner] or [Toner Exhausted] is displayed – The installed toner cartridge has been exhausted and needs replacing. Please install a new toner cartridge to resume printing/copying.
· Printouts are blank – You should check the source file for blank pages. Please replace the installed toner cartridge if the problem persists.
· Faded printouts – You should select a higher print resolution setting, and turn off the Toner Save feature. In addition, you should try to improve print quality by cleaning the LSU. Please replace the installed toner cartridge if the problem persists.
· Missing text or graphics – You should load a different type or brand of paper, and then reprint the document. Please replace the installed toner cartridge if the problem persists.
· Black vertical lines appear across the page – The organic photoconductive drum inside the installed toner cartridge has probably been damaged. Please install a new toner cartridge.
· Gray background – You must make sure that the operation/printing environment (humidity, temperature, etc…) meets the requirements. You should also try reprinting the document on a different type of paper. Please replace the installed toner cartridge if print quality does not improve.
· Toner Smear – You should try to improve print quality by cleaning the inside of your Samsung ML-3471ND Monochrome Laser Printer. Please replace the installed toner cartridge if print quality remains unsatisfactory.
· Vertical repetitive defects – You should clean the drum of the installed toner cartridge by selecting [System Setup] – [Maintenance] – [Clean Drum]. Please install a new toner cartridge if print quality does not improve.
