Maintaining the Xerox Phaser 3250DN’s Print Cartridge

It is possible to maximize the life of a print cartridge by obeying a few simple rules and performing basic maintenance on the printer. Never remove a brand new print cartridge from its packaging until immediately before it is to be installed. Exposure to air will dry out the cartridge and shorten its life.

Direct sunlight will also significantly shorten the life of a print cartridge and thus new cartridges should be stored in cool, dark places. Cartridges should not be refilled as this may void the printer’s manufacturer warranty but instead they should be recycled properly. Never dispose of old cartridges by burning them and always keep used cartridges in a plastic bag to avoid toner spillage or staining.

When the print cartridge begins to underperform or the Xerox Phaser 3250DN’s ERROR LED light begins to blink in red, the print cartridge is nearing the end of its life. It is often possible to extend the life of the cartridge at this point by redistributing what is left of the toner inside the cartridge. This is especially true if white streaks are appearing in printed material.

To redistribute toner, first open the front cover of the printer and remove the cartridge by its handle. Shake the cartridge in all directions several times and then reinsert the cartridge. If this fails to improve print quality, it is time to install a brand new cartridge.

Cleaning the Xerox Phaser 3250DN

For optimal performance, it is best to routinely clean the Xerox Phaser 3250DN to avoid problems caused by excess dust buildup. Excess toner inside the printer can lead to stains and streaking, and must be occasionally wiped out of the machine.

When cleaning the printer, be sure to only use the designated cleaning solutions or damage may be done to the printer. Never use flammable materials or aerosol cleaners. A simple dry cloth can wipe away most toner stains. Never use a vacuum to clean up toner.

To clean the outside of the printer, simply use a dry, lint free cloth. The cloth CAN be dampened with plain cold water, but be sure that it isn’t so wet that it drips wetness into the machine. Wipe the inside of the printer with a DRY cloth, ensuring that as much dust and toner is removed as possible. BE CAUTIOS of the fuser area as this part of the printer takes a very long time to cool down.

It may be difficult to locate, but there is a long strip of glass inside the printer that must occasionally be swabbed with a cotton tipped swab. Be sure that there is no dirt or dust left on this glass.

Once the interior of the Xerox Phaser 3250DN has been cleaned, reinsert the print cartridge while holding it by its handle. Align the groves on the sides of the printer with the tabs on the cartridge to ensure that it is inserted into the correct position, then push it in until it snaps into place. Close the front cover and restore power to the printer to test.

Pros:

With a print speed of 30 pages per minute, the Xerox Phaser 3250DN laser printer is up to par with current laser printing standards. The unit can also crank out a first page in roughly 8.5 seconds, meaning even single page document printing is dealt with speedily by this robust piece of hardware.

Duplexing comes standard in the Xerox Phaser 3250DN laser printer’s hardware set, making double sided printing easy and fast. When taking advantage of the printer’s two sided printing ability, paper usage can be reduced by as much as half which, in turn, can reduce cost per page significantly.
