Canon PIXMA iP4000 Review
The Canon PIXMA iP4000 presents high-speed and sophisticated features. The quality of prints is supported by the ContrastPLUS 5-color ink system that facilitates 4 dye-based inks. The prints are exceptional and photo-realistic. The FINE system makes the print head eject prescribed, consistent volume droplets. The device system is efficient in reducing printing costs by enabling owners to replace the ink instead of the cartridges. Consumers have noted the printer's high-quality prints and performance.
The printer is compact at 16.5 inches in width, 11.3 inches in depth, 6.7 inches in height and 14.9 pounds. For such a small and affordable printer, it prints 25 pages per minute in Black and 17 pages per minute in Color. This approximates to roughly 2.4 seconds per page in Black and 3.5 seconds per page in Color. Borderless photos take longer by 36 seconds, which, is understandable since photos require more complex coloring and finishing. There are 320 nozzles for Black ink, and 512 nozzles for Color. The printers total of 1856 nozzles ensure the printer succeeds in printing fine work on photos and documents. The resolution is 600 x 600 dots per inch in Black. Not much more is needed for Black prints. Though, the Color resolution, is exceptional at 4800 x 1200 dots per inch. The printer is consistent with modern operating systems like Windows 2000, Windows 98, Windows NT 4.0, Windows Me, Windows XP, and Windows 7. Also, Mac OS versions 9.x, 10.2.1, and 10.3.x are compatible. Networking consists of Direct Print Port, IEEE 1284, and USB ports. Noise levels are amazingly quiet at 35 decibels. It is about twice as loud as a whisper. Common paper sizes acceptable for the printer are U.S. #10 envelopes, 5 x 7 inches, 4 x 6 inches, Legal, and Letters. Canon calls the printer a photo printer, but it's an excellent choice for multipurpose printing. The high-speeds and high-quality of photos, texts, and graphics make this printer a well-rounded, compact machine. There are various software programs that come with the Canon PIXMA iP4000 printer. They consist of the User Guide CD & Setup Software, Electronic Registration, Electronic Photo Application, User's Guide, PhotoRecord for Windows, Easy-WebPrint for Windows, and Printer Drivers. Various features are the icing on the cake. ContrastPLUS ink system offers laser-quality text and true-life photos. The 2-sided printing is incorporated in its dual paper path. Users may utilize the direct photo printing via the PictBridge. DV camcorders and digital camera photos can be printed directly from the printer. Consumers will have the majority of everything they need to test the printer's quality and integrity with the starter inks, Canon Photo Paper Pro sample pack, power cord, documentation, and software. The printer prints 2 types of paper with the turn of a switch. The bottom-line is the printer is cost-effective and durable.
There is barely any cons to owning this machine by other reviewers who own it. It cannot fax, copy, or scan. There are no memory card slots. The USB cable is not included. People seem displeased with the ink running out quickly. Reviewers have stated that the printer may clog if not used for more than a week. This can be attributed to the collection of dust on the insides. The software driver CD does not have Windows Vista drivers. Drivers for Windows may be downloadable on Canon's support site. This is not good news for people without a connection to the Internet. Some people have gone as far as installing Windows XP drivers to make the printer work with Windows 7. If users are tech savvy, they should have no issue with creating a copacetic connection to whatever operating system is utilized. |
