BROTHER MFC-7840W TONER CARTRIDGE

The toner cartridge replacement procedure of your Brother MFC-7840W Multifunction Printer requires no more than 10 minutes for complete execution. There are no special tools or technical knowledge/skills required, and you should simply follow the instructions given below.

In the first step of the toner cartridge replacement, you must open the front cover of your printer by grabbing its handle and gently pulling towards you. Please note that the exhausted toner cartridge is installed into the drum unit of your MFC-7840W. Therefore, you must carefully pull the drum unit towards you and out of the printer, and then unlock the exhausted toner cartridge by pushing down the colored lock release lever. After that, you must take the exhausted toner cartridge out of the drum unit, but avoid touching the sensitive surface of the photoconductive drum which is located on the top side of the drum unit. Now, you must unpack the new toner cartridge, and then loosen the toner by shaking the cartridge 6-7 times horizontally. In the next step, you must remove the plastic cover which is protecting the cartridge's contact area, and then install the new toner cartridge into the drum unit. Please note that the toner cartridge is installed correctly only if it clicks securely into place, and if the colored lock release lever is automatically elevated/raised to locked/upper position. Once the new toner cartridge is securely attached, you must clean the primary corona wire of the drum unit by sliding the green cleaning tab to the end of the cleaning channel and back to its ''home'' position. Please note that the green tab should be moved along the cleaning channel at least 5 times, in order the primary corona wire to be optimally cleaned, and then the tab must be returned to its original position. In the final step of the replacement procedure, you must insert the new drum unit into the printer, and then close the front cover. Please note that you should avoid turning off the printer or opening the front cover during the automatic initializing procedure.

The Brother MFC-7840W’s fax mode can be entered by pressing the FAX button which is represented by a fax machine icon. The key will glow green when in fax mode. To send a fax:

1) Place documents FACE UP in the automatic document feeder.
2) Enter the recipient fax number via number pad.
3) Press the START button.

To send a fax via the document glass:

1) Place the document FACE DOWN onto the document glass and close the lid.
2) Enter the fax number via number pad.
3) Press the START button.
4) Once the first page is sent, a NEXT PAGE message will appear. Press 1 to send another page or 2 to finish.
5) If faxing another page, replace the current page with the next page on the scanner and press OK, repeating this process for each consecutive page of fax material.
 

Your Brother MFC-7840W Multifunction Printer is equipped with a built-in system, which is constantly monitoring the installed toner cartridge. The main purpose of this system is to display an appropriate warning message once an abnormality is detected, in order to be avoided a non-operational printer mode. There are two warning messages, which are indicating a detected abnormality in the current toner level, and both messages are listed and described below.

1. ''TONER LOW'' appearing on the control LCD of your printer – The installed toner cartridge is nearly empty. You must install a new toner cartridge soon, in order to avoid a complete disabling of the printer's functions/operations.

2. ''TONER LIFE END'' is displayed on the control LCD of your printer – This error message indicates a completely exhausted toner cartridge. All printing operations will be disabled in this situation, and you won't be able to print new documents. The only available action is a new toner cartridge installation. You could easily replace the exhausted toner cartridge by following the replacement instructions given below.
