Overview:

Pros:

While the Samsung ML-1910 comes with all the basics one would expect from a compact monochrome laser printer, Samsung sets itself apart from the crowd by adding some interesting software bonuses. One of these inclusions is Samsung’s print screen function made possible by a dedicated button on the printer control panel. When using print screen, a user simply presses the button a single time and the contents of the current screen on the unit’s host PC are printed quickly and automatically. Additionally, when the button is held down for more than two seconds only the active window will be printed. This gives users a degree of control over incredibly fast printing that is still made possible with a single touch of a button.

Another software based function found in the Samsung ML-1910 is the unit’s Anyweb Print feature. Anyweb is a piece of software that allows users to drag and drop elements from web pages individually, with no resizing or cropping required, onto a blank page. Elements from multiple web pages can easily be combined quickly and printed, thus creating unique output while also saving paper. The software also allows users to save their creations in tiff files or pdfs for future use.

The compact, sleek, and very attractive design of the Samsung ML-1910 makes it an appealing unit for desktop use. Its small footprint and comprehensive hardware layout allow it to be stashed in many places that a laser printer would normally not fit, and the unit’s control panel is uncluttered and very easy to operate. The unit is also available in multiple colors including black and grey, and is aesthetically outstanding. 

Cons:

The Samsung ML-1910’s standard print speed falls short of 20 pages per minute for both A4 and letter sized paper; speeds that are not exactly desirable in today’s market. With A4 topping out at 18 pages per minute and letter sized paper maxing out at 19 pages per minute, the unit cannot compete with inkjet devices in the same price range. While the unit’s laser print technology can certainly handle a much higher print volume than an inkjet, it does so with a sacrifice in speed that, even with the device’s impressively low cost, is not up to par.
