Samsung ML-1915 Review
For such a small device, the Samsung ML-1915 brings an impressive amount of functionality to the table. Though this monochrome unit is not the top of the line in ways of speed, it does incorporate a variety of very impressive functionality tools that make the device one of the easiest and most convenient to operate laser printers out there.
Probably the most unique and outstanding feature of the Samsung ML-1915 is its true one touch printing capabilities. With the device’s built in Print Screen function, a combination of hardware and software works together to allow users to click a dedicated button on the printer itself and almost instantly print the current screen on the host PC. When the button is held down for longer than 2 seconds, the printer instead prints only the active window. This is probably the fastest manual print process out there right now, combining the simplicity of making a copy with the ability to print from a digital source.
The real drawback to the Samsung ML-1915 is its print speed. With the maximum print rate for A4 paper being 18 pages per minute and letter sized printing topping out at only 19 pages per minute, the unit is easily outperformed by inkjet units in the same price range. The device’s strong points are its size and affordability, but these luxuries do come at the cost of raw performance. This desktop unit is best suited for the user who requires heavy volume printing of documents, whereas those looking for speed and color at low volume should definitely go the way of inkjet. |
