Pros:

Samsung’s unique Print Screen function is possibly the most outstanding function found on the Samsung SCX-4600. By way of a dedicated button, users can print the data found on the screen of the current host PC with one touch. If the button is held down for two seconds, only the current active window will be printed. This, combined with a 9 second first page out time, makes the 4600 one of the fastest printers of any kind when it comes to screen to page time.

As a copy machine, the Samsung SCX-4600 does the job. Samsung’s unique Blue Compass Navigation system is the brand’s innovative way to approach copy menu navigation, and allows users to quickly select the settings they desire, and the LCD screen also displays job status, toner level, paper jams, paper outages, and cover open alerts.

AnyWeb Print software is included in the Samsung SCX-4600 package. This program lets users drag and drop various elements from web pages onto a single, blank digital page. Without the need for resizing or cropping, elements can be rearranged into a comprehensive printable format. This newly arranged data can then be printed directly or saved to tiff or pdf formats for future use.

Various copy functions include an ID card copy mode that combines both sides of an identification card onto a single piece of paper and a poster copy mode. When using poster copy, a single source of input can be blown up to nine times its original size and then printed to nine pieces of paper that can then be arranged in a three by three layout. Inversely, the unit’s clone copy mode is capable of shrinking a piece of input material and printing multiple, smaller copies of it onto a single page.

Cons:

The only arena where the Samsung SCX-4600 really drops the ball is in its overall print speed. With tops speed of only 22 pages per minute for A4 sized paper and 23 pages per minute for letter sized, the 4600 is outperformed by inkjet units in the same price range. Even some bargain laser devices designed for desktop use like the 4600 can leave this printer in the dust by around five pages per minute.
