This Toner Cartridge prints 22000 pages with an average 5% page coverage. The amount of pages can vary depending upon the amount of ink printed onto each page. (5% page coverage is a standard Sharp specification)

Why toner? Why not call it ink? Regular ink dries quickly, which is why cartridges for inkjet printers do not last long. Laser Printers use toner, which is ink in the form of powder. A sealed toner cartridge can be stored for 2+ years prior to usage.

When do I Replace a Toner Cartridge in the Sharp AR-280 Digital Copying Machine?

The Sharp AR-280 Digital Copying Machine is equipped with a toner level monitoring system, which will display a warning message when the toner cartridge needs to be replaced. Once the toner in the toner cartridge becomes too low, you will see the following message ‘’TONER SUPPLY IS LOW. PRESS [I] FOR GUIDANCE’’ appearing in the AR-280`s display. You should replace the toner cartridge in this situation. However, if you decide to continue using the copier with the nearly empty toner cartridge, the printing/copying quality will be drastically decreased and all copies will gradually become lighter. Eventually, the toner cartridge will be completely exhausted, and you will see the following message ‘’ADD TONER. PRESS [I] FOR GUIDANCE’’ appearing in the display. Once the above message is displayed, all printing/copying operations will be blocked, until the exhausted cartridge is replaced with a new one.

How to Install a Toner Cartridge in the Sharp AR-280 Digital Copying Machine

You must start the toner replacement procedure in your Sharp AR-280 Digital Copying Machine by opening the front cover. Then, you must pull down the toner hopper lock lever and pull the toner hopper out until it stops. Now, you must unpack the new toner cartridge, tap on its top 6-7 times, and shake it at least 20 times vertically. After that, you must insert the new toner cartridge into the guides of the toner hopper by sliding it to the right. Once the toner cartridge is in the tonner hopper, you must remove the sealing tape by pulling it to the right side while holding the toner cartridge with your left hand. Then, you must tap on the top of the new toner cartridge 5-6 times to start the flow of toner into the toner hopper. When the toner cartridge is completely empty, you must remove it from the toner hopper by sliding it to the left along the hopper guides and then slide the toner hopper into the copier. Finally, you must push the toner hopper lock lever to its original position and close the front cover of your Sharp AR-280 Digital Copying Machine.

The Sharp AR-280 is a high performance printer that will increase productivity.

Pros:

The Sharp AR-280 offers a lot of features and quality printing. It offers high resolution printing up to 600 dots per inch. With the Sharp AR-280 you can reduce and enlarge copies from 25% to 800% in increments of 1%.
When you are finished printing you have many finishers to choose from with the Sharp AR-280. You have saddle-stitching, multi-position stapling and hole punching at your fingertips.
It doesn’t take long to get the Sharp AR-280 up and running. It takes around 65 seconds for it to warm up. After it warms up, you can use its two 500 sheet paper trays to print 1,000 copies without having to add any paper.

The Sharp AR-280 offers a single pass document feeder that will allow you to copy, scan, and fax two-sided originals.
The touch-screen LCD is user-friendly and allows you to enter email addresses to send documents. It also comes with modem or transmission speed of up to 33.6 Kbps.

Cons:

The problem with the Sharp AR-280 is that you have to add a lot of optional features to it to get it up to speed. Furthermore print speeds are slow. It is reasonable priced, but doesn’t offer enough for the demands of a small to medium size business.
