While the advertised 40 page per minute print speed found in the Lexmark T632 series maybe be a bit of an exaggeration on Lexmark’s behalf, the printer is undeniably fast as well as capable of printing in very high quality with a variety of expansion options. In fact, the only thing that the Lexmark T632 printers are not is cheap, as these high end models will certainly put a dent in any small businesses electronics budget.

Pros:

It is the Lexmark T632’s print speed that really separates the printer from your average, everyday desktop laser printer. A built in network card can help buyers to get the full value out of their purchase as well and, other than the base model, Ethernet capabilities are included in every variation of the printer’s hardware.

There are four enhanced version of the Lexmark T632 on top of the stripped down base unit. These are the Lexmark T632N, the Lexmark T632TN, the Lexmark T632DTN, and the Lexmark T632DTNF. These printers feature additional hardware that includes built in duplexers, network cards, and extra paper trays for boosts in paper storage space.

A built in 350 MHz processor may seem a little underpowered for a 40 page per minute machine, but it gets the job done with the help of 64 MBs of on board RAM. Memory upgrades can be installed as well but no more than 320 MBs can be in the machine at one time.

A one year LexExpress warranty is included with all new Lexmark T632, and its maximum duty cycle of 200,000 pages per month means that this hardware can take a lot of abuse without breaking down or failing. Lexmark recommends using about 20,000 prints per month, which is still far above the average for a small single function laser printer.

Cons:

Though the Lexmark T632 is inarguably fast, it is definitely a little on the bulky side. The device is still small enough to squeeze onto a desktop, but only one that does not suffer from space limitations. The unit’s dimensions of 17.2 x 20.2 x 16 inches (W x D x H) easily make it above average in size for a personal printer, and additional paper trays will raise the device’s height considerably. The 16 inch height of the Lexmark T632 and Lexmark T632N models becomes 21 inches on the Lexmark T632TN, 23.1 inches on the Lexmark T632DTN, and 32.7 inches on the Lexmark T632DTFN version, which makes it a floor standing unit.

The weights of these models also varies greatly, from an already heavy 41.5 pounds all the way up to a barely movable 71.3 lbs. Buyers looking at the Lexmark T632 for desktop use should definitely take its girth and weight into consideration.

If the Lexmark T632 was priced only slightly higher than its 30 page per minute counter parts from Lexmark or other brands, then it would certainly be a worthwhile investment, but this is not the case. Those extra 10 pages per minute of speed will end up costing you about three times as much in overhead cost for the machine, making it a much harder decision to go for this top end model.
