When do I Replace a Toner Cartridge in the HP LaserJet 1010 Printer?

The lifespan of the toner cartridge installed in your HP LaserJet 1010 Printer depends on several, subjective factors, such as the complexity of the printed documents, the average number of printed pages per task, the chosen print quality settings, etc… The standard toner cartridge lasts an average of 2000 pages at 5% coverage and print density set to 3 (average). You can extend the useful life of the installed toner cartridge by using the ‘’HP EconoMode’’, which consumes significantly less toner than normal printing. Please replace the installed toner cartridge, if:

• The first LED on the control panel is blinking – You must make sure that there are no media jams, the toner cartridge is correctly installed, and the toner cartridge door is closed. A new toner cartridge must be installed, if the issue persists.

• The print quality is gradually decreasing. One or several of the listed print quality issues appear: light prints, dropouts, vertical lines, gray background, toner smear, loose toner, repetitive defects.

How to Install a Toner Cartridge in the HP LaserJet 1010 Printer

Initially, you must open the top cover of your HP LaserJet 1010 Printer, and then remove the used toner cartridge by pulling it carefully towards you. Next, you must unpack the new toner cartridge, and then shake it 6-7 times from side to side to loosen and redistribute the toner. After that, you must remove the sealing tape from the cartridge by pulling out the tab, and then align the new component with the guides of the slot. Now, you must slide the new toner cartridge along the guides of the slot until it is firmly inserted, and then close the top cover. Finally, you should test your HP LaserJet 1010 Printer.
