Canon PIXMA iP4600 Review
The Canon PIXMA iP4600 retains all of the features and more, found in the iP4500 series. Canon presents the Canon PIXMA iP4600 as a reliable, Energy Star qualified photo printer that is compatible with modern operating systems. It prints photos qualified to be deemed lab-quality quickly, accurately, and robustly. This printer is suitable for the hobbyist, photographer, and artist. It will fit nicely upon any stand or desktop in the office or home.
The photos produced from the printer have a life of 300 years. Which is good if you want people of up to 3 generations ahead to see the photos. The 9600 x 2400 dots per inch resolution for Color will expel droplets from 1, 2, and 5 picoliters. Clarity and detail is imminent in its photo prints. The resolution of 600 x 600 dots per inch in Black is reasonably standard. End-users may utilize the auto-duplex feature for 2-sided prints. There are two paper trays to store photo and plain papers separately. Two paper trays make it time-efficient and the printer ready to print on-the-go. The hands-free image optimization will fix common issues associated in photography. Attributed by the Easy-PhotoPrint EX software, the PIXMA iP4600 will automatically adjust and fix your photos. Common factors like white balance, red-eye, and skin tone can be accurately adjusted during the auto-fix process. For Black pages, it can print 26 pages per minute and takes 2.3 seconds for each page. For Color pages, it can print 21 pages per minute and takes 2.9 pages for each page. Postcard-sized borderless photos take 20 seconds to print. There are 320 Black nozzles and 4,096 nozzles for Color, which, total to 4,416 nozzles. The network interface enables end-users to connect to their computer with a USB 2.0 capable wire. Much like its predecessors, the PictBridge is enabled on the printer. PictBridge lets end-users connect to the printer and print images from their phone, digital camera, or DV camcorder. The phone, camcorders, and digital cameras will have to incorporate PictBridge capabilities. To find out whether your device is PictBridge capable, look for the logo or call the manufacturer. The Canon PIXMA iP4600 is a little louder than the older printer, the iP4500. Nevertheless, the printer operates at a low-sound level of 45.5 decibels in the best quality mode. The compact printer has an output tray capable of holding up to 150 pages of plain paper or 150 pages of cassettes. It is 17.0 inches in width, 11.7 inches in depth, 6.0 inches in height, and 12.4 pounds. For such a small machine, it packs robust features for its photo printing. Give thanks to Canon's standard limited warranty of one-year. Additional warranty plans can be purchased for a minuscule fee.
Canon PIXMA iP4600 lacks fundamental office features like fax and scan. Given the printer's size, it is understandable. The ability to network the device is possible, especially, if you tech savvy in improvising. The ink consumption displeases many consumers. While respecting consumer reviews, there are not very many reviews associated with the printer. There is a review, which stated, the printer's setup instructions are poorly written and contacting customer service is demanding. There does not seem to be any memory card slots and LCD. It would be nice to see Canon incorporate memory card slots for those less than capable devices that do not have PictBridge. In comparison to its predecessor, it does not make much sense to make this printer slower than the PIXMA iP4500 in printing documents. The speed differs by a couple of seconds, so, it's not really a big deal. In the detailed research of the printer, it became apparent that the older model haves a total of 4,608 nozzles and the iP4600s has 4,416. Essentially, this may make the quality less concentrated, but the iP4600 has a higher number of nozzles working on the colors and less on the black. |
