ARTISAN 835 HIGH YIELD BLACK OEM INK CARTRIDGE

The Epson Artisan 835 is very clear about alerting the user when it requires an ink cartridge replacement. It’s screen will display the message WARNING. YOU NEED TO REPLACE THE FOLLOWING INK CARTRIDGE(S), followed by a list of the cartridge colors that require replacement and the error code M 99/99.

Begin cartridge replacement with the printer turned on. You can replace cartridges before the error message shows up and are advised to do so if print problems occur that cannot be fixed by a print head alignment. Regardless, the scanner of the printer must be lifted upwards to access the cartridges. Lift the scanner with the document feeder in its closed position and no print process in progress.

The cartridges will be accessible and can be pulled out of their holding positions by squeezing their release tabs and lifting the cartridges out of the printer. It is best to recycle the cartridges right away to avoid ink drops dripping out of them.

Open the packaging of a new cartridge for installation and be cautious to never touch the GREEN chip seen on the side of the cartridge. The yellow tape must be peeled off the cartridge but no other seals should be tampered with lest the cartridge may leak.

New cartridges must be pressed down into their correct color positions and snapped into place. Replace all empty cartridges at the same time, then close the scanner when finished. The printer should recognize the new cartridges immediately and if it does not, open the scanner and make sure each of them is pressed down all the way.

Here is a simple checklist to go through when a problem occurs during a printing process. When satisfactory printing does not occur or no printing at all occurs, first make sure that the paper in the machine is loaded with its printable side down. With standard letter paper, both sides are printable, but when dealing with glossy paper the brighter, glossier side should face downwards. Also be careful not to load paper above the guides.

Double check to make sure that the type of paper that is loaded into the machine matches the paper setting programmed into the control panel on the current host PC. The paper size and type must both match for the printer to work properly.

If you are having a problem scanning or faxing legal sized material because the scan glass is too small, remember to use the built in automatic document feeder for anything larger than letter or A4 paper. If problems occur when the automatic document feeder is in use, it is possible that the corners of the input material are bent or that the paper is too curled to feed properly. When you are using the scan glass, be sure that the scan or fax material is pressed up against the left and back edges of the glass.

When even one of the ink cartridges in the Epson Artisan 835 is completely out of ink, the unit will not function. You can use the device as a scanner but nothing else until the cartridge is replaced.
