Product Description
Konica Minolta PagePro 1380MF Toner - 6,000Pages

This toner cartridge prints 6000 pages with average 5% coverage (Nearly all Printer manufacturers base their ink/toner cartridge yields on 5% page coverage).

This product comes with a 6 month Warranty against any defects (including free replacement). We stand behind our products 100%, as these are not manufactured by Konica Minolta.

Why toner? Why not call it ink? Regular ink dries quickly, which is why cartridges for inkjet printers do not last long. Laser Printers use toner, which is ink in the form of powder. A sealed toner cartridge can be stored for 2+ years prior to usage.

How to Install a Toner Cartridge in the Konica Minolta PagePro 1380MF Laser Printer
You must start the replacement procedure by opening the front door of your Konica Minolta PagePro 1380MF Laser Printer. Then, you must pull the drum unit and toner cartridge assembly out of the laser printer. After that, you must detach the exhausted toner cartridge by pulling its lock release lever towards you, and then remove the exhausted component from the drum unit. Now, you must unpack the new toner cartridge, and then shake it 8-10 times from side to side. Once the new toner cartridge is prepared, you must slide it along the guides of the drum unit until it locks into place, and then insert the drum unit and toner cartridge assembly into the Konica Minolta PagePro 1380MF Laser Printer. Finally, you must close the front door.

Konica Minolta PagePro 1380MF Review

Overview:

Suited for the home or small businesses that prints 15,000 pages a month, the Konica-Minolta PagePro 1380MF is a monochrome laser printer that can print, copy, and do color scanning at speeds up to 21 pages per minute. The optional 50-page Automatic Documents Feeder (ADF) expands scanning and copying of paper to include Legal sizes, scanning at 15 pages per minute.

Pros:

The PagePro 1380MF weights about 31 pounds, and has 14.7” x 18.6” footprint.  Without the ADF, it’s only 16.2” tall. This multi-function has a cassette paper tray, capable of holding up to 250 legal-size sheets up to 34 pound bond weights. Heavier papers, envelopes, and transparencies can be inserted through the 50-page multi-purpose tray.

The PagePro comes with 32MB of non-expandable memory, enough for a single user office environment or light network use. The 1380MF connects directly to a computer via an USB 2.0 interface.

Each print job for the PagePro only takes about 17 seconds to start, printing at speeds up to 21 ppm. Using no digital enhancing, maximum image resolution is 600 x 600 dpi.  This provides crisp monochrome text and photographs, but may appear a little course for finer CAD drawings and line graphics.

Copies can be made directly on the Letter and A-size glass platen, or using the optional ADF.  The PagePro has three different copy exposure modes to handle from text to photo reproductions. The magnification can be automatically or manually changed from 25% to 400% in 1% increments, or in 5 pre-set “jumps”.  Up to 99 B & W copies can be made at speeds up to 21 pages per minute. Resolution and print speeds are spec’d at 600 x 600 dpi and 20 ppm respectively. Copies can be collated when the ADF feature is installed.

In scan mode, scanner resolution ranges from 100 to 1200 dpi at speeds up to 6 pages per minute. Either 24-bit color or 8-bit (256 shades) grayscale, the scanned images can be exported to e-mail, a file, or any Microsoft Office or Adobe application.

Cons:

Instead of the industry standard HP PCL or Adobe PostScript, Konica-Minolta relies on GDI for printer emulation. Most users won’t notice the difference, but users of Adobe products may have some printing problems.

This is a small annoyance, but it would have been a nice gesture to have the fax component standard and not an option. While more businesses will accept documentation via e-mail, there are still companies out there that won’t accept certain legal documents unless they’re transmitted by fax.  Fortunately, Konica-Minolta offers this in their PagePro 1390MF model.

However, Konica-Minolta really dropped the ball when it limited the largest paper size that can be scanned or copied to only 8½” x 11.7”.  To add to the confusion, the 1380MF can print the larger 8½” x 14” Legal-size.  The ADF is designed to accept the longer Legal-size, but the ADF is an add-on accessory for the 1380MF.  To avoid confusion, they should have made the glass platen larger for supporting 8.5” x 14” legal-size originals. The way the all-in-one is, it would be impractical for a business, especially businesses that require scanning legal documents and contracts.
