Your Brother DCP-9045CN/DCP-9045CDN Multifunction Printer is equipped with a built-in system, which is constantly monitoring the status of the installed transfer belt. The same built-in system will display an appropriate warning/error message on the control LCD of your multifunctional printer, when the transfer belt reaches the end of its useful life, or when a transfer belt related abnormality has been detected. The messages used for an indication of transfer belt related issues are listed and described below.

''Change Parts <> Belt Unit'' – This message indicates that the installed transfer belt is at the end of its useful life. You must install a new transfer belt soon after the initial appearance of this warning message.

''No Belt Unit'' – This message will be displayed, if the transfer belt is not installed or it is not installed correctly. You must install or reinstall the transfer belt. In case that the ''No Belt Unit'' message is still appearing on the control LCD, even after a correct transfer belt installation, then you will have to purchase and install a new transfer belt.

You must start the transfer belt replacement procedure by turning off the power of your Brother DCP-9045CN/DCP-9045CDN Multifunction Printer, and then open the front cover. After that, you must remove the drum unit from the printer by following the procedure included below.

Drum Unit Removal

Please be aware that some printer components will be still very hot, if you have recently used your printer. In the next step of the replacement procedure, you must unlock the drum unit from the slot by gently lifting its front side up, and then pull the drum unit towards you until it stops. Now, you must pull the gray lock release lever up to unlocked position (the gray lock lever is located above the right side of the installed drum unit), and then use both green handles to remove the drum unit from the printer. Please note that you must avoid touching the contact areas of the toner cartridges, the electrodes on the inner printer' sides, and also the sensitive surface of the 4 photoconductive drums, which are located on the drum unit.

Once the drum unit is out of the printer, you must grab the exhausted transfer belt by its front side and lift it gently up. After that, you must remove the exhausted component by pulling it straight towards you, and then unpack the new transfer belt. Now, you must align the new transfer belt with the slot, so the mark on the belt match the mark on the slot, and then insert the new transfer belt completely into the printer. In the next step of the replacement procedure, you must gently push the front side of the new transfer belt down to lock the new component into place, and then reinstall the drum unit.

Drum Unit Installation

Now, you must make sure that the gray lock release lever is still in ''upper''/''unlocked'' position, and then insert the drum unit into the slot until it stops. After that, you must push the gray lock lever down to ''locked'' position, and then insert the drum unit into the printer until it stops. Once the drum unit is completely inserted, you must gently push its front side down to lock it into place, and then close the front cover of your Brother DCP-9045CN/DCP-9045CDN Multifunction Printer.

Finally, you must turn on the power switch of the printer, and then reset the transfer belt counter by executing the procedure included below.

Reset of the Transfer Belt Counter

1. Navigate to [66. Reset Menu] by pressing [Menu] – [6] – [6].
2. Select [Belt Unit] by pressing [^] several times.
3. Press [OK].
4. Confirm the installation of a new transfer belt by pressing [1].
5. Finalize the procedure by pressing [Stop/Exit].
