When do I Replace a Drum Unit in the Toshiba DP-80F Laser Copier?

One of the most important components of your Toshiba DP-80F Laser Copier is the drum unit. For that reason, your laser copier is designed to monitor the condition of the installed drum unit constantly. You can check the status of the installed drum unit by printing a Transmission/Reception Journal. Please note that you can print a Transmission/Reception Journal by simply pressing the [JOURNAL] button. You should install a new drum unit if:

� ‘’RX COVER OPEN OR NO PROCESS UNIT’’ is displayed on the LCD screen of the laser copier – You must make sure that the toner cartridge and the drum unit are installed correctly, and then close the top cover of the laser copier firmly. Please install a new toner cartridge if all components are installed correctly but the error message is still displayed. You will have to install a new drum unit if the error message continues to appear after a new toner cartridge has been installed.

� ‘’DRUM UNIT WARNING’’ – The installed drum unit is near the end of its useful life. Printing/copying is still possible in this situation, but print quality may become unsatisfactory. Therefore, you should install a new drum unit soon.

� ‘’REPLACE DRUM UNIT’’ – The drum unit installed in your Toshiba DP-80F Laser Copier cannot be used any more. You must install a new drum unit.

How to Install a Drum Unit in the Toshiba DP-80F Laser Copier

Initially, you must open the top cover of your Toshiba DP-80F Laser Copier, and then remove the toner cartridge from the main unit. After that, you must pull the used drum unit upwards to remove it from the laser copier, and then unpack a new drum unit. Please do not touch the green surface of the new drum unit, in order to be avoided future print-quality problems. In the next step of the replacement procedure, you must align the guides of the new drum unit with the grooves in the slot, and then insert the new component completely. Once the new drum unit is installed, you must reinstall the toner cartridge, and then close the top cover of your Toshiba DP-80F Laser Copier. Finally, you must reset the drum counter by pressing the following buttons in the provided sequence: [MENU] – [5] – [2] – [0] – [4] – [1] – [ENTER].
