The Toshiba E-Studio 280 notifies users of a toner cartridge outage in two ways: a message that reads INSTALL NEW TONER CARTRIDGE, as well as a blinking replace cartridge symbol.
To replace the cartridge, begin by opening the front cover. Doing this will reveal the toner cartridge which can be released by pressing DOWN on the GREEN lever, which will in turn move the cartridge to the front position. The cartridge can now safely be pulled out of the machine.
When eliminating old toner cartridges, it is best to do so through an accredited recycling program and always store the cartridge in a plastic bag to prevent toner from spilling out. Another option is to store the old cartridge in the box that the new one was shipped in, but labeling it to avoid confusion.
The new toner cartridge must be properly prepared for entry before inserting it into the machine. To do this, first give the cartridge a vigorous shake to ensure that toner is distributed within the cartridge. Next, pull the seal labeled with a small arrow to expose the contact surface of the unit. It can now be inserted into the machine.
To install the cartridge, simply slide the unit carefully into the printer until it audibly snaps into position. Next, the unit’s bypass tray must be lowered. It can be released by a small lever and then dropped open. The transfer cover can then be opened as well which will reveal a very small cleaning tool located in a small front pocket.
This cleaning tool must be removed from its home and used to clean, as well as possible, the transfer charger wire. Be sure that the cleaning pads are making contact with the wire when attempting to completely clean it. When finished, be sure to place the cleaning tool safely back into its storage pocket.
At this point, the transfer charger can be closed, followed by the automatic duplexer, followed by the front cover to the unit, which can now be tested for proper operation.
