AFICIO 220 DRUM

You must replace the Drum Unit (Photo Conductor Unit) installed in your Ricoh Aficio 220 Laser Printer, when the following warning message ‘’Replace photo conductor unit’’ is displayed on the control LCD by the built-in monitoring system. Otherwise, the installed drum unit will be completely exhausted very soon, which will lead to a variety of print quality issues.

Important: Please avoid touching the sensitive surface of the drum. Make sure that the machine is in a ‘’stand-by’’ mode before proceeding with the current replacement procedure. Please be aware that an automatic initialization procedure will be executed, after the new drum unit has been successfully installed.

You must start the replacement procedure by opening the duplex unit, and then the right cover of the main unit. After that, you must open the front cover, and then pull the exhausted drum unit towards you while pressing its green lock release button, until the exhausted component stops. In the next step, you must completely remove the exhausted drum unit from the laser printer by grabbing its green handle and pulling towards you, but please avoid shaking or tilting the removed component. Now, you must take the new drum unit out of the transport packaging, and then remove the red tapes from the new component (remove the right tape first). At this stage of the installation, you must slide the new drum unit along the guides of the slot until it clicks into place, and then remove the two pieces of protective paper and the red sheet. Once the new drum unit is completely inserted, you must close the right cover, and then close the front cover of the main unit. Finally, you must close the duplex unit of your Ricoh Aficio 220 Laser Printer.
