This drum prints 50000 pages with an average of 5% coverage. Nearly all printer manufacturers base their ink/toner cartridge yields on 5% page coverage.

When do I Replace a Drum in the Sharp AR-235 Laser Printer?

The lifespan of the organic photoconductor drum (AR-270DR dia. 30mm) used in your Sharp AR-235 Laser Printer is approx. 50,000 copies/prints at 5% page coverage. You can check the number of pages printed with the installed drum by executing the following procedure.

Checking the counter value of the installed Drum

1. Turn the laser printer on.
2. Enter the [Simulation Selection] mode by pressing [#] – [INTERRUPT] – [C] – [INTERRUPT].
3. Use the 1-10 keys to enter 22.
4. Press [Start].
5. Enter 1.
6. Press [Start].

How to Install a Drum in the Sharp AR-235 Laser Printer

Caution: Please do not touch the green surface of the new organic photoconductor drum. Scratches or smudges on the drum will cause print-quality problems.

Initially, you must open the front cover of the Sharp AR-235 Laser Printer, and then remove the toner cartridge (Please refer to ‘’How to Install a Toner Cartridge in the Sharp AR-235 Laser Printer’’). After that, you must remove the process unit from the laser printer, and then unlock the drum fixing plate by rotating it in a clockwise direction. Now, you must detach the left side of the used drum from the process unit, and then remove the used drum by pulling it to the left. In the next step of the replacement procedure, you must take the new drum out of the protective packaging, and then insert its right side into the process unit. After that, you must push the left side (without touching the green portion) of the drum towards the process unit to insert it, and then attach the new drum fixing plate. Once the new drum fixing plate is inserted, you must rotate it counterclockwise until it stops, and then insert the process unit into the printer. Next, you must reinstall the toner cartridge, and then close the front cover of your Sharp AR-235 Laser Printer. Finally, you must reset the drum counter by executing the short procedure included below.

1. Turn the laser printer on.
2. Enter the [Simulation Selection] mode by pressing [#] – [INTERRUPT] – [C] – [INTERRUPT].
3. Use the 1-10 keys to enter 24.
4. Press [Start].
5. Enter 7.
6. Press [Start].
