SHARP AL-1655CS TONER CARTRIDGE

Before installing a new toner cartridge, it is recommended that the current cartridge that is running low be removed from the machine and shaken around thoroughly, then reinstalled. Redistributing the toner inside the cartridge can extend the life of the cartridge, but if this method is not successful, a new cartridge must be installed.

The copy machine will warn users when a print cartridge is running low by providing a TD CARTRIDGE IS NEAR EMPTY message on its LCD screen. When this message is displayed, the unit can continue to operate for some time, but when the message changes to REPLACE THE TD CARTRIDGE, a new one must be installed before copying can continue. Occasionally the machine may display a message that reads TONER REPLENISHMENT IN PROGRESS. This message is no cause for concern and does not mean that the cartridge is empty.

Begin installation of a new cartridge by opening the bypass tray and then the side cover of the machine by pressing the OPEN button. Press gently on both sides of the front cover and it will drop open, revealing the toner cartridge. The old cartridge can be removed by pressing the lock release button on the end of the cartridge and pulling it straight out of the machine.

Recycle the old cartridge and remove a new one from its packaging. It is a good idea to place the old cartridge in the bag that the new one came in to avoid toner spillage. Shake the new cartridge around horizontally several times to loosen its toner, then remove the protective cover on the cartridge.

To install the cartridge, slide it into the machine in the position that the old one was in and press the lock release lever to get the unit to snap into place. Close the front cover and then the side cover. Make sure the side cover is properly snapped closed by pressing on the small finger pad located next to the OPEN button. Do not close the covers in the wrong order as this could damage the machine.

Installation is now complete and any toner warning signals should disappear.

There are multiple signs indicating the need of a toner cartridge replacement in your Sharp AL-1655CS Digital Multifunctional System. The first sign includes a blinking ``Error`` indicator, and it signals for a completely exhausted toner cartridge. Additionally, you will see the following message ``REPLACE THE TD CARTRIDGE`` on the printer`s display. When the same ``Error`` indicator is on (steadily lit), then your toner cartridge still has some toner left, but its level is too low. Additionally, you will see the following message ``TD CARTRIDGE IS NEAR EMPTY`` on the printer`s display. In both of the above situations, you must purchase a new toner cartridge and replace the old/exhausted one, otherwise all printing operations will be limited and eventually blocked/disabled.
