When do I Replace a Fuser Maintenance Kit in the HP Color LaserJet 4500dn Laser Printer?
The fuser maintenance kit contains the following consumable items: one fuser, four paper rollers, and two air filters. You can check the remaining life of the main component of the fuser maintenance kit – the Fuser, from the [Information] menu of the control panel. The estimated useful life of a new fuser maintenance kit is 100,000 black and white pages or 50,000 color pages. You should replace the installed fuser maintenance kit if any of the listed messages and print-quality issues appears.
[FUSER LIFE LOW <> REPLACE KIT] – The components of the installed fuser are near the end of their useful life. You should install a new fuser maintenance kit soon.
[FUSER LIFE OUT <> REPLACE KIT] – The fuser, the paper rollers, and the two air filters are at the end of their useful life. Please install a new fuser maintenance kit.
[50.X FUSER ERROR] – This is an indication for a fusing error. You should try to solve the problem by turning your HP Color LaserJet 4500dn Laser Printer off and then back on. Please install a new fuser maintenance kit if the problem persists.
[50.5 FUSER ERROR] – The installed fuser is not intended for use in your HP Color LaserJet 4500dn Laser Printer – Voltage Mismatch. Please install a new, compatible fuser.
The toner cartridges and the drum have been replaced, but print quality remains poor – The fuser rollers are probably damaged or the fuser has been exhausted. You should install a new fuser maintenance kit.
How to Install a Fuser Maintenance Kit in the HP Color LaserJet 4500dn Laser Printer
Initially, you must turn the HP Color LaserJet 4500dn Laser Printer off, wait until the fans stops running (about 10 minutes), and then unplug the printer power cord. Please wait 30 minutes before proceeding with the next step. Next, you must open the upper rear door (or the duplex if installed), and then lower the upper rear door by releasing the two straps. After that, you must rotate the blue fuser latches inwards 90 degrees, and then remove the exhausted fuser by pulling it slowly towards you. Now, you must take the new fuser out of the protective bag, insert it into the HP Color LaserJet 4500dn Laser Printer, and then rotate the two blue latches of the new fuser down. Once the new fuser is installed, you must remove the two used air filters, clean the fan areas, and then insert the new fans into the printer. In the next step of the replacement procedure, you must attach the two support straps to the upper rear door, close the upper rear door, and then pull Tray 2 out of the laser printer. At this stage, you must remove the paper roller from the Tray 2 cavity by sliding the used paper roller to the right while squeezing the releasing tabs, and then slide the new paper roller onto the spindle inside the Tray 2 cavity until it clicks into place. After that, you must remove the cover that protects the paper roller inside Tray 2, and then remove the used paper roller by squeezing the blue tabs together and sliding the roller off the spindle. Next, you must insert the new paper roller onto the spindle until it clicks into place, attach the protective cover, and then insert Tray 2 back into the laser printer. If your printer is equipped with a 500-sheet paper feeder, you can use the same technique/method in order to replace the used paper rollers inside the paper feeder (Tray 3). In the concluding step of the replacement procedure, you must reset the maintenance count by pressing the [Menu] button and then selecting [RESETS] – [NEW FUSER KIT, SELECT IF DONE].
