This professional level monochrome system is fully customizable to suit the needs of almost any medium sized business.

Pros:

The X860 series includes three base model variations, all of which are entirely customizable and expandable, but the flagship unit of this line is the Lexmark X864DHE 4 Multifunction Printer. This unit comes with a boost in speed of up to 55 pages per minute which is a full 20 pages per minute faster than the base model: the Lexmark X8620DHE 4. Copy speeds are equal to those of printing.

The premiere version of the unit also includes a much higher maximum monthly duty cycle of 300,000 pages which is twice that of the 860 and is sure to meet any heavy volume requirement in an office setting. Additional paper trays are also included, giving the device a core paper storage volume of 3,100 sheets which is then further upgradable to a total of 5,100 sheets if neccecary.

With the e-task touch screen menu, browsing is not only simple and easy, it is also fully customizable. Probably the most outstanding feature of this operating system is its ability to allow users to create their own shortcuts and leave them on the device’s desktop, making it faster than ever to access commonly used print settings.

The finishing options for the Lexmark X864DHE 4 Multifunction Printer are extensive, and a wide variety of additional hardware accessories is available for the unit such as additional 500 or 2,000 sheet paper drawers, a high capacity feeder, and even a printer cabinet. Finishing options include a standard finisher and a booklet finisher, both with 2 or 3 hole punch capabilities. Hard disks and other memory can be added to the device as well.

Cons:

While the feature set of the Lexmark X864DHE 4 Multifunction Printer speaks for itself, one of the questionable factors when considering the device for purchase is its incredible price. The unit does offer a decent amount of bang for the buck, but buyers should be prepared for an initial overhead cost that is through the roof.

Scan resolution is also confusingly low, with black and white scanning topping out at only 600 x 600 dots per inch and color scanning suffering even further with a mere 600 x 300 dot per inch quality. Other model’s in Lexmark’s X series seem to suffer from this limitation as well and it is a nearly inexcusable flaw for such a high cost unit.
