RICOH AFICIO 2022 DRUM

The drum unit consists of the following components: cleaning blade, toner collection coil, pick-off pawl, OPC drum, ID sensor, development roller, development unit, charge roller, cleaning roller, and a quenching lamp. The useful life of these components is approx. 60,000 prints. You can check the value of the drum unit counter by executing the procedure that is included below.

Drum Counter Check

1. Make sure that the Ricoh Aficio 2022 Printer is in a Stand-by mode
2. Press the [Clear Mode] key, and then enter [107]
3. Press and hold down the [Clear/Stop] key for at least 3 seconds, and then touch [Copy SP]
4. Touch the Group Number [7909]

The Ricoh Aficio 2022 Printer is programmed to notify the user when a drum unit related abnormality occurs. You should replace the installed drum unit if any of the listed messages and/or error codes appears.

[Replace PCU] – The components of the installed drum unit are at the end of their useful life. You must install a new drum unit.

[Not Detected: PCU] – The Ricoh Aficio 2022 Printer does not detect an installed drum unit. You must make sure that the drum unit is installed correctly. Please install a new drum unit if the problem persists.

[302] – The Ricoh Aficio 2022 Printer has detected a charge roller current leak. You should try to solve the problem by turning the laser printer off and then back on. Please replace the installed drum unit if the problem persists.

[390] or [392] – This is an indication for a detected TD sensor error. You should restart the laser printer, and then check if the error code is still displayed. You will have to install a new drum unit if the error persists.

Initially, you must open the duplex unit (if installed), and then open the right cover of your Ricoh Aficio 2022 Printer. Next, you must open the front cover, and then pull the exhausted drum unit towards you while pressing the release button. After that, you must raise the green handle and remove the exhausted drum unit by sliding it towards you. Please do not tilt or shake the used drum unit. Now, you must take the new drum unit out of the plastic bag, and then remove the two red sheets (remove the right red sheet first) from the new component. Please do not touch the inside of the new drum unit or the green parts. In the next step of the replacement procedure, you must slide the new drum unit along the guides of the slot until it clicks into place, and then remove the protective sheet and the two strips of tape. Once the new drum unit is installed, you must close the right cover, and then close the front cover of your Ricoh Aficio 2022 Printer. Finally, you must close the duplex unit (if installed). Please note that your laser printer is equipped with an SW7 switch, and the TD sensor initial setting procedure will be executed automatically.
