AR-153E DRUM

The photoconductive (OPC) drum is a component of the drum cartridge that is installed in your Sharp AR-153E Laser Printer. The main function of the drum is to form a latent (negatively charged area on the surface of the drum) image, and to transfer the latent image as a toner image onto the print paper. The useful life of a new drum is approx. 25,000 pages at 5% coverage. You can check the drum counter by executing the following procedure:

Drum Counter Display (Simulation 22)

1. Make sure that the Sharp AR-153E Laser Printer is in a Stand-by mode.

2. Press [Start] – [Clear] – [Exposure Mode Selector] – [Clear] – [Exposure Mode Selector].

3. Use the [COPY QUANTITY] keys to enter 22, and then press the [COPY] key.

4. Use the [COPY QUANTITY] keys to enter 12, and then press the [COPY] key – The drum counter will be displayed on the LCD. Please install a new drum if the displayed number is equal or bigger than 23,500.

You must start the replacement procedure by opening the side cover of your Sharp AR-153E Laser Printer. Then, you must open the front cover and remove the installed toner cartridge by pulling it towards you while pressing its lock release button. Once the toner cartridge is out of the laser printer, you must pull the installed drum cartridge gently towards you to remove it from the main unit, and then remove the drum cover by releasing the four tabs. In the next step of the replacement procedure, you must pull the drum fixing plate out of the drum cartridge, and then remove the exhausted drum. After that, you must unpack the new drum, and then insert it into the drum cartridge. Now, you must insert the drum fixing plate into place, and then attach the detection gear and the drum cover. Finally, you must reinstall all previously removed components by following the current replacement procedure in a reverse order. Please note that your Sharp AR-153E Laser Printer is equipped with a Drum reset switch (DRST) which allows the printer to reset the drum counter automatically.
