OKIDATA B4600 DRUM

Your OKIDATA B4600 is equipped with a precise built-in system, which is constantly monitoring the work condition of the installed drum unit. When the system detects that the installed drum unit is near the end of its life (more than 90% of the drum's print resource have been consumed/used), it will display the following warning message ''CHANGE DRUM'' on the control LCD of your laser printer. Additionally, the error indicator/LED will be blinking when the installed drum unit needs to be replaced. You should replace the installed drum unit soon after the initial appearance of the ''CHANGE DRUM'' warning message and the LED indication, in order to be avoided a variety of print quality issues, such as background fogging, blurred images, blank copies, solid copies, white banding, and/or black banding. Please note that you should install a new toner cartridge, when you are replacing an exhausted drum unit in your OKIDATA B4600.

Important: Please avoid touching the sensitive green surface of the photoconductive drum and also the fuser unit. Please note that you should turn off your OKIDATA B4600 and wait at least 10 minutes before proceeding with the replacement procedure, in order the fuser unit to cool down. Please be aware that the new drum unit must not be exposed to light for periods longer than 5 minutes.

You must start the replacement procedure by opening the top cover of your OKIDATA B4600. Then, you must remove both the toner cartridge and the exhausted drum unit. After that, you must unpack the new drum unit, and then insert it into the laser printer. Once the new drum unit is installed, you must unpack the new toner cartridge, and then shake it 7-8 times to evenly distribute the toner inside. Now, you must insert the new toner cartridge into the installed new drum unit, and then lock it into place by pushing its blue lock release lever towards the rear side of the printer. In the next step of the replacement procedure, you must clean the LED lens (located on the top cover) with the included special cleaner, and then close the top cover of your OKIDATA B4600. Finally, you must reset the internal counter of the drum unit by performing the short procedure included below.

Drum Counter Reset

1. Turn ON your laser printer.
2. Locate the control panel and press the [ONLINE] button until the printer switches to ''offline'' mode.
3. Navigate to the [MAINTENANCE MENU] by pressing the [MENU] button several times.
4. Press [SELECT], and then hold the [ITEM] button until the following message ''DRUM COUNT RESET'' is displayed on the control LCD.
5. Press the [SELECT] button, and then finalize the procedure by pressing [ONLINE].
