BROTHER HL-2040 DRUM

The status of the drum unit installed in your Brother HL-2040 Laser Printer is one of the most important factors directly affecting the quality of the printed documents. For example, more than 80% of all print quality problems are usually caused by an exhausted drum unit. Herein, you should replace the drum unit soon after the initial appearance of the ‘’drum life’’ warning signal. Please note that the warning for an exhausted drum unit in your Brother HL-2040 Laser Printer is a constantly blinking [Drum] LED. You can find this LED in the control panel of your printer, between the [Toner] and the [Paper] LEDs.

Important: The drum unit replacement procedure of your Brother HL-2040 Laser Printer must be executed, only when the printer is in ‘’stand-by’’ mode and the [Drum] LED is blinking.

In the initial step of the drum unit replacement procedure, you must open the front cover, and then push and hold down the [GO/I] button until all LED indicators of the control panel light up. After that, you must pull the exhausted drum unit out of the printer in direction straight towards you, but avoid touching the electrodes located on the inner sides of the printer. Now, you must detach the toner cartridge from the exhausted drum unit by pulling it towards you at an angle of 45degrees while pushing the blue lock release lever. In the next step of the replacement procedure, you must unpack the new drum unit, and then install the toner cartridge by gently pushing it down into the new drum unit until it clicks into place. Please note that the blue lock release lever will be automatically raised to locked position, if the toner cartridge is installed properly. Finally, you must insert the new drum unit along with the attached toner cartridge into the HL-2040`s slot, and then close the front cover.
