When to Replace the Drum Unit in a Brother MFC-8500 Printer

You can manually check drum life by entering press<2> press<0> press<3>. For several second LCD screen will show you how much of the drums life is remaining.

Brother MFC-8500 printer’s LCD screen will show you when the Drum unit is almost empty by sending a message. After receiving that message you can still use Brother MFC-8500 printer but do it with caution because you will still have to change the drum unit.

Once you start having problems with printed pages replace the drum unit.
NOTE: If you have to change the drum unit after you had used the printer wait a while to cool down, because the temperature inside can be extremely high.

How to Replace the Drum Unit in a Brother MFC-8500 Printer

To change the drum unit in Brother MFC-8500 printer stand in front of it and open the front cover door. Take out the new drum unit and unpack it.

Take off the protection cover and install the toner cartridge carefully into drum unit, to make an assembly.

Clean drum unit using the corona wire several times and then set the corona wire back in first position.

Install back the drum and toner assembly back in Brother MFC-8500 printer. Don’t close the front cover yet.

Press button, press<1>. On the LCD screen will be shown message. This will mean that you have reset correctly the drum unit count.

Close front cover door and precede printing.
