As expected in any all in one machine, it has a quite powerful copying function built in. It is a flatbed style copier, and can copy up to 21 copies per minute. It does only copy in black and white though. It has a useful reduction or enlargement feature that allows you to zoom in or out, anywhere from 25% to 400%. The poster function allows you to take a normal sized document, and make it larger to that it prints over 2 or 4 pages. This is a useful feature, especially if you are conducting a team meeting and need a large diagram for example.

Other functions include the ability to scan in black and white or even color. This can be achieved at a 9600 dpi resolution. It also comes with a 250 sheet paper drawer as well as a 50 sheet multi purpose tray.

Cons:

To be honest, this machine doesn't come with many disadvantages. The lack of color printing and copying may be a problem for some. But this is only a downfall if you have to have color. Also, the print speed might not be fast enough if you are working in an office larger than a small workgroup. But if you buy this for a small office in mind, in should be perfect.


For someone on a budget, an all in one machine is what the office needs. The Brother MFC-8840D in particular offers printing, copying, scanning and faxing.
