CS-2014 DRUM

The technical condition of the drum unit installed in your Copystar CS-2014 Laser Printer is directly defining the overall print quality results achieved by your monochrome laser device. The drum unit is a consumable component, which must be replaced after a certain, maximal number of prints. The lifespan of this component is defined by various factors, such as the percentage of page coverage, the used print settings, the number of pages per print job, etc… You must replace the drum unit installed in your laser printer, if any of the following print quality issues is reappearing on the printed documents: black prints, background dots, too light images, horizontal white lines, horizontal black lines, vertical white lines, vertical black lines, dark/light areas, black dots, offset occurs, or/and parts of the printed image are missing. Please note that you should install a new drum cleaning blade, when replacing an exhausted drum unit, because the cleaning blade is responsible for the removal of the residual toner from the drum surface after each new print.

Important: You should never touch the surface of the photoconductive drum. Please hold the new drum unit only by its ends. Any prolonged exposure (longer than 5 minutes) of the new drum unit to direct light will lead to future print quality issues.

In the initial step of the installation, you must open the front cover of your Copystar CS-2014 Laser Printer, and then remove the toner cartridge. After that, you must move the lever of the developing unit to ‘’unlocked’’ position, and then take the developing unit and the exhausted drum unit out of the printer. Please skip the installation of a new cleaning blade, if the new drum unit is already equipped with such. Now, you must unpack the new drum unit, and then remove the two screws from its upper cleaning cover. At this point, you must remove the upper cleaning cover from the new drum unit, and then install the new cleaning blade to the drum unit. Once the new cleaning blade is installed, you must return all of the previously removed components to their original places/positions by following the current procedure in reverse order, and then close the front cover of your Copystar CS-2014 Laser Printer. Finally, you must reset the counter of the drum by executing the short procedure included below.

Reset of the Drum Counter

1. Turn the main power switch on while pushing down the [Print] and the [Stop/Clear] buttons.
2. Wait 2 seconds, and then press the [Stop/Clear] button.
3. Use the up/down keys to enter ‘’73’’, and then press the [Print] button.
4. Press the [Print] button again.
5. Press the [Stop/Clear] button.
6. Use the up/down keys to enter ‘’01’’, and then press the [Print] button.
