DRUM for DELL 1700 LASER PRINTER

Your Dell Black & White 1700 Laser Printer is equipped with a highly sophisticated built-in system, which is constantly monitoring the condition/status of the installed drum unit. You will see one of the listed and described below signals, when a new drum unit must be installed in your monochrome laser printer.

 The [Continue] LED is ON and the [Replace Drum] LED is blinking – This signal indicates that the installed drum unit is near the end of its useful life, which could cause a variety of print quality issues. You should install a new drum unit soon after the initial appearance of this advance notification.

 The [Replace Drum] LED is blinking – The installed drum unit has reached the end of its useful life. You must install a new drum unit as soon as possible. Otherwise, your printer will switch to a non-operational mode/hard stop very soon.

 The [Continue] LED is ON, the [Replace Drum] and the [Error] LEDs are blinking – Your monochrome laser printer is in a non-operational mode/hard stop, which means that all print operations have been disabled due to a completely exhausted drum unit. You won't be able to finish your current task or to print new documents, until a new drum unit is installed.

Important: Please avoid prolonged exposures of the new drum unit and/or the toner cartridge to direct sunlight or strong artificial light.

In the initial step of the drum unit replacement procedure, you must press the lock release button, which is located on the left side of your monochrome laser printer, and then open the front cover. Now, you must take the exhausted drum unit along with the attached, still useable toner cartridge out of the laser printer by grabbing the handle of the toner cartridge and pulling towards you. In the next step of the replacement procedure, you must detach the toner cartridge by pressing the lock release button, which is located on the front side of the exhausted drum unit, and then take the toner cartridge out of the exhausted consumable component. After that, you must take the new drum unit out of the protective packaging, and then attach the toner cartridge by sliding it along the guides of the new drum unit. Please note that the cartridge will click into place, if it has been aligned correctly. Once the toner cartridge is securely attached, you must completely insert the assembled components into the printer, and then reset the drum's counter by pressing the [Cancel] button until all LEDs flash in a sequence. Finally, you must close the front cover and test your Dell Black & White 1700 Laser Printer.
