5100CN DRUM KIT

The drum unit installed in your Dell Color 5100CN is a very important consumable component, which must be replaced before the complete exhaustion of its print resource. Therefore, the precise built-in system of your laser device is constantly monitoring the status of this consumable component, and it will display an appropriate warning or error message, once a drum unit related abnormality has been detected. All of the warning and error messages used by the built-in system for an indication of such abnormalities are listed and described below.

 ''Insert Drum <> 091-972 <> Insert/Reseat Imaging Drum'' or ''Imaging Drum <> 091-912 <> Reseat Imaging Drum'' – Both of these messages are normally indicating an incorrectly installed drum unit. Therefore, you should reinstall the drum unit. In case that the error message is still displayed, you will have to purchase and install a new drum unit.

 ''Imaging Drum <> 091-935 <> Replace Imaging Drum'' – This is a warning message, which indicates an exhausted drum unit. You must install a new drum unit soon after the initial appearance of this warning message. Otherwise, the print quality will be gradually decreasing, and the following print quality issues will inevitably appear very soon: background fogging, blurred images, blank copies, solid copies, white banding, color banding, and/or black banding.

It is always better, if you keep a new drum unit for your Dell Color 5100CN in stock, but please remember to store all consumable components in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions. The complete drum unit replacement procedure is included below.

Initially, you must open the front cover of your Dell Color 5100CN by pulling its lock release lever towards you, and then open the cover of the drum unit compartment by pushing its lock release button (located on the top right corner). Please be aware that some internal components will be very hot, if you have recently used your printer. After that, you must grab the handle of the exhausted drum unit and pull straight up to remove the exhausted consumable component from the laser printer, and then unpack the new drum unit. Now, you must remove the first protective cover from the new drum unit, and then insert the new component into the printer. Once the new drum unit is inserted, you must remove its second protective cover, and immediately after that, you must close the cover of the drum unit compartment. Please be aware that any excessive exposures of the new drum unit to direct sunlight or strong artificial lighting will lead to irreparable damages. Finally, you must close the front cover and test your Dell Color 5100CN laser printer.
