Understanding Consumer Replacement Messages on the Epson AcuLaser CX11N / CX11NF
The Epson AcuLaser CX11N/CX11NF is equipped with an LCD screen that will display various alerts when one or more of the consumables for the device is in need of a replacement or will soon need to be replaced. Once a message appears, it is possible that the machine will continue to operate for a time, but will eventually shut itself down if it detects possible danger. The messages are as follows:

WORN PHOTOCONDUCTOR – This means that the photoconductor is approaching the end of its useful life and should be replaced as soon as possible. If a new photoconductor unit is not on hand for replacement, order one immediately.

WORN FUSER – The fuser has been uses as much as it should be and must be replaced as soon as possible if not immediately. Order a new fuser if one is not on hand.

WORN DEV UNIT – The developer can no longer be used and must be replaced. A color will appear in place of the X.

REPLACE TONER - The X color cartridge (C, M, Y, or K representing cyan, magenta, yellow, or black respectively) needs immediate replacement because it is out of toner.

REPLACE PHOTOCONDCTR – The photoconductor needs replacement. Press the B&W START or COLOR START button to change the message back to WORN PHOTOCONDUCTOR and resume printing for a short period of time.
Replacing a Toner Cartridge in the Epson AcuLaser CX11N/CX11NF
Cartridges may need to be changed even if a toner cartridge is not completely out of toner when a large amount of work is upcoming. To change a low toner cartridge before it is absolutely necessary, you will need to manually prepare the machine. Begin by pressing the SETUP button. Use the arrow keys to select, PRINTER SETTINGS> RESET MENU> CHANGE TONER and select the color you wish to change.

Replacing cartridges must be done with the Epson AcuLaser CX11N/CX11NF turned on. A small lock button is located on the left side of the machine and must be pressed to release the front gate and gain access to a toner cartridge. The toner cartridge that requires replacement or the cartridge that has been selected manually will be in front and can be removed. If it is not the correct color cartridge for replacement, use the setup menu to prepare the proper cartridge. Recycle all old cartridges through a toner recycling program.

Unpack a new cartridge of the right color and shake it around a few times to loosen the toner inside. There is a pull tab on the end of new cartridges that must be pulled out to unseal the cartridge. After this is done, the cartridge can be installed in the printer with the arrow on it facing towards the user. The toner must be pressed firmly into its slot so that it locks into position.

The lock lever on the right side must also be pushed to further secure the cartridge properly in its position. Close the cover when you are finished installing cartridges and look at the LCD screen for error messages. If more cartridges need to be replaced, new messages may appear.
