HP COLOR LASERJET 4550N DRUM

The estimated lifespan of the imaging drum installed in your HP Color LaserJet 4550N Printer is 25,000 Black Pages and/or 6,250 Color Pages at 5% coverage. You can check the status information of the installed imaging drum by printing a ‘’Supplies status’’ page. Please replace the installed imaging drum, if its remaining print resource is less than 10%.
The built-in monitoring system of your HP Color LaserJet 4550N Printer will display one of the listed and described below messages, if an imaging drum related abnormality occurs.

• ‘’DRUM ERROR <> REPLACE KIT’’ – The built-in monitoring system has detected an irreparable drum hardware error. A new imaging drum must be installed.

• ‘’DRUM LIFE LOW <> ORDER KIT’’ – The installed imaging drum is near the end of its useful life. You should install a new imaging drum soon after the initial appearance of this warning message, in order to be avoided various print quality issues and/or critical hardware errors.

• ‘’DRUM LIFE OUT <> REPLACE KIT’’ – The installed imaging drum has been completely exhausted. You must install a new imaging drum immediately after the appearance of the warning message on the control panel display.

• ‘’INSTALL DRUM KIT’’ – The built-in monitoring system of your HP Color LaserJet 4550N Printer is not detecting an installed imaging drum. Please make sure that the imaging drum is installed correctly. A new imaging drum must be installed, if the problem persists.

• ‘’WASTE TONER FULL <> REPLACE DRUM KIT’’ – The waste toner container is integrated into the installed imaging drum. Herein, you must install a new imaging drum immediately after the appearance of this warning message on the control panel display.

In some cases, the imaging drum must be replaced even if there are no warning messages displayed on the control LCD. Please install a new imaging drum, if any of the listed print quality issues is reappearing. Please make sure that the print quality issues have not been caused by a damaged or incorrectly installed toner cartridge, before proceeding with the installation of a new imaging drum in your HP Color LaserJet 4550N Printer.

Warning: Any prolonged (longer than 15 seconds) exposure of the new imaging drum to direct light will inevitably lead to future print quality issues.

You must start the replacement procedure by opening the front upper drawer of your HP Color LaserJet 4550N Printer. Then, you must take the used imaging drum out of the main unit by grasping its blue handle and pulling upwards. Once the used imaging drum has been removed, you must take the cleaning brush, which is mounted inside the lower front drawer, and then use the brush to remove all dust and toner particles from the toner density sensor. Now, you must return the cleaning brush to its original location, and then close the lower front drawer. In the next step, you must unpack the new imaging drum, and then align it with the guides of the slot, so the stamped arrow is pointing towards the laser printer. Immediately after that, you must insert the new imaging drum into the slot, and then close the front upper drawer. Finally, you must wait until the following message ‘’READY’’ is displayed on the control panel LCD, and then test your HP Color LaserJet 4550N Printer.
