How to Replace the Toner Cartridges in a Kyocera EcoPro C170N Printer
Replacing the toner container on the Kyocera EcoPro C170N is straightforward. First open the top cover on the printer. After that pull the blue lock lever on the toner container forward until it is no longer locked. Then carefully remove the old toner container from the machine. Next you want to place the toner container in a bag so that it can be discarded safely. Additionally remove the new toner container from the kit. Another important step is to rattle the new toner container back and forth several times. After the toner has been evenly distributed place it in the printer. Afterwards make sure that it is correctly locked into place. Then pull the blue lever so that it is locked once again. After that use the same steps to replace the color toner containers. Finally close the top cover.
Troubleshooting Errors in a Kyocera EcoPro C170N Printer
Users of the Kyocera EcoPro C170N will normally have to deal with five different memory card errors. The first error is 01. This means that the printer does not support the memory card that you are using. Error code 02 allows the user to know that it has not been inserted correctly into the printer. Another common message you will get is 04 which tells you that the memory card is full. You can resolve this problem by deleting files that you are not using or use another memory card. Error code 05 means that the file is not on the memory card that you are using. Finally 06 tells users that there is not enough printer memory to support the memory card they are using. The printer’s memory must be expanded.
How to Clean the Kyocera EcoPro C170N Printer
Cleaning the EcoPro C170N is essential to keeping it in excellent working condition. The first thing one must do to cleaning it is to open the left cover. The first matter of importance is cleaning the main charger wire. After that you need to take a hold of the green wire cleaner knob. Gently pull it out and then put it back in place again. Repeat this action several times. When you are finished make sure that you return the wire cleaner to its home position. Your next step is to clean the charger grid. To do that you want to take the grid cleaner out of the toner kit. Then take it out of the bag and take the cap off. Next you want to life up the main charger unit and pull it out only slightly. Afterward you need to attach the grid cleaner to the printer with the pad pointing upwards. Make sure you gently remove the main charger out and place it back in again. Do this over again several times. This action will help to clean the grid. Once you are finished cleaning, make sure you place the main charger back in its original position. Finally take the grid cleaner from the machine and throw it away. Do not use the grid cleaner again.

At under $200 it is affordable and offers 600 X 600 dpi printing that is perfect for your needs. Many businesses become frustrated when it takes a long time to print the first copy. The EcoPro C170N spits out the first copy in color or black-and-white in only 16 seconds. It can print using PCL 6, KPDL3 , PCL 5C , PCL XL , PostScript 3 , and PRESCRIBE IIe. That gives you all the printing options you will ever need. It offers 600 sheet paper capacity and 10/100 BaseTX Network Interface. The color toner cartridges of the Kyocera EcoPro yield 4,000pages for cyan, magenta, and yellow. The black toner has a yield of 6,000 pages (5%). It also offers add-ons like a 500 sheet paper drawer, duplex, and memory upgrades. Its OPC drums and maintenance kits are built to last for 100,000 impressions.


Cons:

Overall the Kyocera EcoPro C170N offers quality. However its toner cartridges are expensive. Plus it is not as durable as other printers that are comparably priced. Another drawback is that it cannot print 11” X 17” paper. Sometimes it is nice to be able to print 11” X 17” paper in order to make a company newsletter.
