The fuser assembly unit is an important consumable component, which finalizes the printing process by permanently bonding the toner image to the page. You can check the status of the installed fuser assembly unit by printing a Menu Settings page. To print a Menu Settings page, you must press the [Menu] button, and then select [Admin] – [Reports] – [Menu Settings]. You should replace the installed fuser assembly unit if any of the listed indications and print quality problems appears.

Repetitive vertical image defects appearing at 3,7402 in and/or 4,2520 in intervals

Insufficient fusing; toner rubs off the printed page;

Initially, you must turn the Lexmark C544dtn Color Laser Printer off, unplug the power cord, and then open the toner supply door. Next, you must open the front cover, and then detach the right cover from the main unit by releasing the latches. After that, you must remove the media tray, and then remove the metal screw and the two plastic screws from the left cover. Now, you must remove the screw on the bottom of the left cover, and then remove the left cover by releasing its tabs. Once the left cover is removed, you must disconnect the two-wire fuser cable from the LVPS, and then guide the cable through to the front. Please do not pull the two-wire fuser cable too hard. In the next step of the replacement procedure, you must detach the grounding washer by removing its fixing screw, and then unplug the thermistor cables. At this stage, you must remove the exit deflector and bin-full/narrow media sensor flag, and then remove the bin-full/narrow media sensor. After that, you must release the fuser springs, and then rotate the top of the exhausted fuser assembly unit toward the front. Next, you must slide the exhausted fuser assembly unit to the left, and then pull it out of the Lexmark C544dtn Color Laser Printer. Finally, you must install the new fuser assembly unit by following the current procedure in reverse order, and then reset the fuser count by selecting [Printer Setup] – [Reset Fuser Cnt] – [Reset].
