Overview:

A two line, 16 digit LCD display and some sparse dedicated buttons are the only details that grace the front of the very simplistic Lexmark E360DN monochrome printer, but behind the unit’s bare bones appearance lies some of the fastest hardware in the midsized/ desktop printer category. This device can not only print in high quality, but in heavy volumes and at speeds approaching 40 pages per minute, making a great choice for those who do not require multifuctionality but still need a top notch document printer.

Pros:

It really is the raw print speed of the Lexmark E360DN that makes it stand out among the rest. With 40 pages per minute of power, the printer not only outperforms the majority of other desktop laser printers, but does so by a long shot. The device is literally twice as fast as some of the lower end models you will find on store shelves and, though you will certainly be paying through the teeth for this sophisticated model, its performance level is nearly unmatched.

On top of the device’s fast ppm speed, the device is also equipped with a built in duplexer and network card, unlike the Lexmark E360D model that is not network ready. Built in duplexing is a great way to reduce paper costs as printing to both sides of output material can reduce paper usage by nearly half. The network card is almost a must for a device capable of printing in this magnitude, as it allows an entire office to take advantage of print speeds that could easily be unparalleled in a small business.

With true 1200 x 1200 dot per inch print quality, the Lexmark E360DN stands as a fully rounded device that is above average in print resolution as well as speed. Other resolutions that can be selected are a basic 600 x 600 dot per inch document friendly quality and a 2400 dpi image mode. In the case of this printer, changing the print resolution will have little effect on print speed.

Lexmark recommends producing no more than 6,000 prints per month from this device, which is actually quite high for a desktop unit. The maximum that the printer can handle is about 80,000 pages per month so, when the demand is high, users will not have to worry about the Lexmark E360DN quitting or falling apart.

Cons:

The big problem with the Lexmark E360DN’s 40 page per minute print speed is that, in so many words, it doesn’t exist. This printer can meet its advertised top speed only under very specific print circumstances that don’t really reflect the parameters that users will be operating within in real life. Instead of printing at professional level speed under a variety of conditions, the printer is actually just good at scoring high on a very limited test. Still, the device remains faster than a lot of printers you will find on the market, and its maximum monthly duty cycle is very high, making it a great buy regardless, but not the one that is described on the box.
