How to Install a Toner Cartridge in the Lexmark X644e Printer

To install a new toner cartridge in your Lexmark X644e Printer, you must lower the multipurpose feeder, and then open the top front cover. Next, you must unlock the used toner cartridge by pulling it slightly up, and then remove it from the printer. After that, you must remove the packing material from the new toner cartridge, and then shake the cartridge 8-10 times in all directions to loosen the toner. Now, you must align the new toner cartridge with the guides inside the machine, and then insert the new component into place. In the next step of the replacement procedure, you must close the top front cover, and then return the multipurpose feeder to its original position. Finally, you must print five sheets of paper, wait five seconds, and then print five more sheets.

How to Install an ADF CCD Module Assembly in the Lexmark X644e Printer

How to Install a High Voltage Power Supply in the Lexmark X644e Printer

Please note that you have to remove all of the listed (below) components before replacing the high voltage power supply. Please make sure that the power cord of your Lexmark X644e Printer is unplugged before proceeding with the replacement procedure.

Left side cover

You must open the upper and lower front cover of your Lexmark X644e Printer, and then open the left side cover by pressing the two latch buttons. After that, you must release the top hinge of the left side cover from the latch, and then lift the cover to release the bottom hinge, and resp. to remove the cover.

Upper paper deflector assembly

You must lift the ESD cover slightly, and then release the small tab of the upper paper deflector assembly. After that, you must release the MPF flag, and then slide the upper paper deflector assembly to the right. Finally, you must lift the upper paper deflector out of the Lexmark X644e Printer.

MPF lower paper deflector

You must remove the lower cover of the MPF, and then remove the four mounting screws of the MPF lower paper deflector. Next, you must pull the MPF lower paper deflector out of the printer.

Inner paper deflector assembly

Initially, you must remove the paper tray from the main unit, and then place the printer on its side. After that, you must release the inner paper deflector from the left and right mounting posts. Now, you must release the upper latches of the inner paper deflector from the main frame, and then remove the assembly.

ADF assembly

You must loosen the thumbscrews of the two cables located at the back of the ADF assembly, and then disconnect the cables. Next, you must remove the attach screws of the ADF assembly, and then remove the ADF assembly by lifting it up, but please make sure the you clear the two rear screws.

Flatbed scan assembly

Once the ADF assembly is removed, you must remove the five mounting screws from the SCC and HDD shield, and then loosen the screws of the outer shield. After that, you must slide the outer shield to the left, and then remove the shields of the scanner control card and the hard drive. Now, you must disconnect the two cables from the control card, and then remove the two screws from the left side of the flatbed scan assembly. In the next step of the replacement procedure, you must detach the ground bracket from the SCC/HDD shield by removing the screw, and then remove the right side cover from the printer. Once the right side cover is removed, you must remove the two screws from the right side of the flatbed scan assembly, and then unhook the flatbed scan assembly from the main frame by pushing it forward. Finally, you must lift the flatbed scan assembly from the base of your Lexmark X644e Printer.

Upper sub cover

You must remove the screw that fixes the upper sub cover into place, and then release the right side of the upper sub cover from the main frame. After that, you must pull the upper sub cover to the right to remove it.

Right cover

Once the upper sub cover is removed, you must remove the toner cartridge from the Lexmark X644e Printer, and then remove the right mounting screw of the front cover. Next, you must remove the redrive door, and then remove the right mounting screw of the rear cover. After that, you must remove the two mounting screws from the redrive assembly, and then remove the assembly by releasing the two latches. Now, you must release the front side of the right cover by pressing the latch, and then release the three bottom retainers by pulling the right cover up.

High Voltage Power Supply

In the first step of the replacement procedure, you must disconnect the cable of the high voltage power supply at the connector, and then disconnect the cable of the transfer roll from the HVPS board. After that, you must remove the two mounting screws from the high voltage power supply, and then release the mounting tab by sliding the high voltage power supply to the left. Now, you must remove the high voltage power supply from the Lexmark X644e Printer, and then unpack the replacement component. Finally, you must install the new high voltage power supply by executing the current procedure in reverse order.

When do I Replace a System Board Assembly in the Lexmark X644e Printer?

The system board assembly should be replaced if any of the listed error codes and print quality problems appears.

This unit is perfect for offices with heavy printing needs. Toner cartridges yield 32,000 pages. There is also a 2,000 sheet paper tray that is available for the Lexmark X644e.

Pros:

The Lexmark X644e offers printing, scanning, faxing, and copying. There is an 8 inch touch screen control panel that is easy to see and use. This unit produces the first copy in just seven seconds. The copier can reduce originals to 25% enlarge them to a maximum size of 400%. The scanner offers a resolution of 600x600 dpi and has a maximum scan area of 8.5x14 inches.

Toner cartridges for the unit are easy to remove and replace. High yield toner cartridges for the Lexmark X644e produce 21,000 pages. Even higher yield cartridges are available that offer yields of 32,000 pages.

This unit offers outstanding quality output. Text documents are sharp and easily readable at 4 point fonts. This unit also offers a duplexer that will reduce the amount of paper you use. The machine supports Mac and Windows operating systems.

Cons:
