BROTHER MFC-6490CW YELLOW INK CARTRIDGE

The built-in monitoring system of your Brother MFC-6490CW Multifunction Printer uses (displays) several warning messages, in order to notify you about a detected ink cartridge abnormality. Once the monitoring system detects a low ink level in any/several of the installed ink cartridges, you will see one/several of the listed below warning messages appearing on the control display.

 ''INK LOW BLACK'' – The Black ink cartridge is nearly empty, and it should be replaced soon.
 ''INK LOW YELLOW'' – The Yellow ink cartridge is nearly empty, and it should be replaced soon.
 ''INK LOW MAGENTA'' – The Magenta ink cartridge is nearly empty, and it should be replaced soon.
 ''INK LOW CYAN'' – The Cyan ink cartridge is nearly empty, and it should be replaced soon.

Eventually, the remaining ink in the nearly empty ink cartridge/cartridges will be consumed, and then you will see one of the listed below error messages, which are also indicating a non-operational printer mode.

 ''B&W PRINT ONLY'' – One or several of the installed color ink cartridges is/are completely exhausted, and it must be replaced. All color printing operations will be disabled until the exhausted color cartridges are replaced.
 ''REPLACE INK BLACK'' – The Black ink cartridge is completely exhausted, and it must be replaced. All printing operations are disabled in this situation.
 ''REPLACE INK YELLOW'' – The Yellow ink cartridge is completely exhausted, and it must be replaced. All color printing operations are disabled in this situation.
 ''REPLACE INK MAGENTA'' – The Magenta ink cartridge is completely exhausted, and it must be replaced. All color printing operations are disabled in this situation.
 ''REPLACE INK CYAN'' – The Cyan ink cartridge is completely exhausted, and it must be replaced. All color printing operations are disabled in this situation.
 ''CANNOT PRINT'' – This error message will be displayed in the LCD, after one or several of the above messages. It is also indicating an empty ink cartridge/cartridges and a non-operational printer mode.

In order to avoid interruptions of your work, you should always keep a spare set of ink cartridges for your Brother MFC-6490CW Multifunction Printer in stock, but remember to store the cartridges in accordance with the manufacturer's recommendations/instructions.

In order to replace an exhausted ink cartridge in your Brother MFC-6490CW Multifunction Printer, you must open the cover of the ink cartridges' compartment, which is located on the front side of the printer. Behind the cover, you will find all four ink cartridges, and you will notice that each cartridge is secured by a special lock release lever. Once the exhausted ink cartridge is located, you must unlock it from the slot by pushing down the corresponding lock release lever, and then remove the exhausted ink cartridge from the printer by pulling it carefully towards you. Please note that you could use the aluminum bag of the new ink cartridge to seal and dispose the exhausted cartridge. Now, you must unpack the new ink cartridge, and then remove its protective yellow cap by turning the green knob clockwise and pulling it towards you. After that, you must insert the new ink cartridge into the corresponding slot in the direction pointed by the printed arrow (next to the label), and then push the new ink cartridge towards the slot until you hear a click. Finally, you must close the cover of the ink cartridges' compartment, and then reset the ink dot counter by selecting [YES], once one of the listed below messages appears on the MFC-6490CW' LCD.
