How to Install a Ribbon Cartridge in the OkiData MicroLine 395 Impact Printer
In the first step of the replacement procedure, you must make sure that the OkiData MicroLine 395 Impact Printer is switched off, and then open the top cover. After that, you must move the printhead to the center of the platen, and then slide the ribbon off the printhead posts. Now, you must pull the exhausted ribbon cartridge out of the machine, and then unpack the replacement component. In the next step of the replacement procedure, you must remove the shipping restraint from the new ribbon cartridge, and then push the latch of the idler roller in. Once the new ribbon cartridge is prepared, you must align its pins with the notches inside the machine, and then slide it into the slot until it clicks into place. Next, you must attach the ribbon to the printhead posts, and then turn the take-up knob clockwise. Finally, you must turn on and test your OkiData MicroLine 395 Impact Printer.

OkiData MICROLINE 395C Color Dot Matrix Printer Review

Overview:

Any business requiring impact printing for multiple layer forms and invoices has few choices when it comes to print technology other than dot matrix, and the OkiData MICROLINE 395C Color Dot Matrix Printer is certainly a heavy duty unit, however old, worth considering.

Pros:

With a solid 24 pins of dot matrix print technology, the OkiData MICROLINE 395C Color Dot Matrix Printer outperforms other older models in the categories of speed and quality. This device is even capable of producing a decent image at a maximum resolution of 360 x 360 dots per inch. This function should prove ideal for those looking to add a company logo to their work forms.

The impact on the OkiData MICROLINE 395C Color Dot Matrix Printer is strong enough to penetrate up to four copies deep. This is the primary reason why dot matrix printers still operate today, along with their incredible durability. The 395C is capable of producing millions of pages of print in its lifetime, even in a dusty or harsh work environment and relentless usage.

Four print speeds are selectable on the OkiData MICROLINE 395C Color Dot Matrix Printer and each of them are relatively some of the fastest in their class. When printing simple reports or spreadsheets, the 610 character per second draft mode is the perfect choice. A 485 character per second utility mode and 245 character per second near letter quality mode are good choices for semi finalized drafts and professional work, while the device’s 165 character per second letter quality mode is ideal for polished documents and even imagery.

As a business level unit, the OkiData MICROLINE 395C Color Dot Matrix Printer’s straight through paper path is there for a reason. A bottom push tractor and bottom feed path allow easy printing to difficult to manage special paper types such as labels or card stock. The unit also has a top feed option for envelopes and a standard rear feed for old school fanfold paper. Switching between paper types is also very fast via the unit’s unique “paper park” mode.

Perforated fan fold paper is automatically advanced to the correct position for easy tearing when in use, but there is an additional option available that can make paper separation automatic. When single or dual bin cut sheet feeders are installed on the device, the OkiData MICROLINE 395C Color Dot Matrix Printer becomes a zero tear machine that is perfect for those printing multiple pages at once. Both parallel and serial interfaces are incorporated into the device.

Cons:

Unfortunately the OkiData MICROLINE 395C Color Dot Matrix Printer is not only obnoxiously loud, it is also gigantic. With dimensions of 22.4 x 16.4 x 7.1 inches (W x D x H), the unit is cumbersome. It’s awkward stance and ugly brownish color also certainly classify the device as an eyesore, and it frankly should probably not remain within eyesight of any potential customers due to its obvious age.
