Sharp AL-1530CS - Toner Cartridge Replacement
When cartridge capacity gets as low as 10%, the warning light on the Sharp AL-1530CS will turn on in a solid state. In this condition, the machine can continue to operate for some time, but eventually the toner will run completely out and the light will begin to blink on and off. At this point, the toner will have to be replaced before operation can continue.
Both covers must be opened in order to access the toner compartment. The side cover must be opened FIRST by pressing the OPEN button. The front cover can then be dropped open by pressing in on both sides of it.
Inside the compartment, the drum cartridge and toner cartridge will be visible. The toner cartridge can be removed by pressing the lock release button on the end of the unit and can then be pulled out of the machine. Always keep the used cartridge horizontal and hold it with two hands so as not to spill leftover toner.
Recycle the old toner cartridge and open the new one. Be sure to shake the new cartridge vigorously before installing to ensure that the toner inside flows freely. A protective seal will be found on the cartridge that must be removed. Be careful not to touch the area under the seal.
Align the cartridge with the groves in the machine and slide it all the way into the copy machine. When it reaches the end, the lock release lever must be pressed to allow it to snap into position. The front cover must be closed and then the side cover. Closing the covers out of order can result in damage to the machine.
When the covers are closed, the machine should automatically recognize the new toner and turn out the indicator light.
Sharp AL-1530CS Cleaning and Maintenance
Maintenance for the Sharp AL-1530CS involves cleaning the exterior, the document glass, and the transfer charger. The exterior of the machine can be cleaned by wiping off dust with a dry, soft cloth, while the document glass and inner cover may require some glass cleaning solution for a proper clean.
Open the cover to the Sharp AL-1530CS to access the document glass and wipe down the glass and lid. Rollers can be found on the right side of the open lid that must be cleaned as well. The rollers can be cleaned with glass cleaner but never with any flammable solution.
It is also important to occasionally clean the unit’s transfer charger; otherwise copies may become blotchy or have streaks. Always clean the transfer charger with the power OFF.
Open the side cover by pressing the latch marked OPEN, then locate the charger cleaner in the small holding compartment on the left hand side of the charger. This tool must be placed on the RIGHT side of the charger and then slid to the left. DO NOT slide the cleaning utensil in the reverse direction. Instead, lift it out of the charger and repeat the process several times.
When finished, replace the cleaning utensil back in its holding place and close the side cover. Turn the power switch back ON and print a test page to make sure no blotchiness still occurs.

Your Sharp AL-1530CS is equipped with a built-in toner level monitoring system, which will warn you, when a new toner cartridge is needed. The toner cartridge replacement symbol will light up, if the toner becomes too low. This symbol illustrates six black dots in pyramidal order. In this situation you may be able to print a few more copies, but the printing quality will be drastically reduced. Herein, you must replace the exhausted toner cartridge with a new one.
