STYLUS PHOTO R2880 CYAN INK CARTRIDGE

When an ink cartridge in the Epson Stylus Photo R2880 is running low, the INK light next to the droplet icon will begin to flash. At this point it is time to order a new cartridge set as one or more of the cartridges is about to run out. Once the light turns on and stays on, a cartridge has run completely out of ink and the printer cannot function without the installation of a new cartridge.

If a CD/DVD tray is in the printer, remove it. Also remove any special thick media from the device and be sure that the printer is on and the manual feed door is closed before beginning a cartridge replacement.

Open the cover of the printer and press the INK button. This will move the cartridges to their replacement position with the cartridges that need to be replaced indicated by lights above the cartridge(s). Open the cartridge cover to access the cartridges.

To release the cartridges from the printer, squeeze the release tabs on the top and bottom of the cartridge and pull it out of the machine, then recycle it through a proper cartridge recycling program.

New cartridges, before they can be installed, must be shaken vigorously while they are still in their packaging. You should hear a clicking sound of a moving part when the cartridge is shaken. Unwrap the cartridge after shaking and remove its yellow seal, but do not remove anything else from the cartridge.

Locate the proper slots for new cartridges and lower them into position, then snap them firmly into place by pressing down on them. Close the cartridge cover once finished, followed by the printer cover. Press the ink button to begin charging the new cartridges, this will take about two and a half minutes.

When using fine art paper and other premium paper types, use the Epson Stylus Photo R2880’s single sheet feeder for best results. The single sheet feeder is also the only way most special media types can be printed on with this printer.

Remove the regular supply of paper from the sheet feeder before using the bypass feeder. Pull the extensions on the output tray out as well. Move the roll paper guide all the way to the right side of the rear of the printer.

The single sheet feeder can then be attached to the back of the printer by lining up the notches on it with the indentations inside the printer. Also hook the tabs on the feeder into the slots marked with ORANGE triangles.

With the feeder in place, turn the printer on and insert a SINGLE piece of paper. Make sure that the print side is up and the paper is all the way against the right side, then close the edge guide in on it so that it touches but is not tight.

You may guide the page by hand into the printer but do not force it, and be sure to release it once the printing process starts. Keep the printer cover closed at all times while printing a single sheet.
