Canon PIXMA iP6210D Review

Overview:

The Canon PIXMA iP6210D printer is a versatile printer with admirable performance.  It utilizes Full-photolithography Inkjet Nozzle Engineering to print photo-realistic prints.  The patented technology is dependable and offers color accuracy.  Its compact and is ideal for students, home-offices, scrapbooking, and photographers.

Pros:

The resolution is evenly-balanced at 4800 x 1200 dots per inch for Color and Black.  Canon PIXMA iP6210D is a dedicated photo printer, which produces 4 x 6 borderless photos in a minute and 8.5 x 11 photos in roughly 2.3 minutes.  Roughly, it prints up to 12 pages a minute in A4 Black and 10 pages per minute in A4 Color; sizes 8.25 x 11.7 inches for both.  There is nothing special about the speed, but works for some people.  The network interface integrates a Direct Print Port for PictBridge, an optional Bluetooth 1.2, and USB 2.0 Hi-Speed port for computer-to-printer connections.  The PictBridge enables consumers to utilize their cell phone, DV camcorder, and digital camera via the cable for prints.  If you use the Bluetooth 1.2 device, you may print wireless.

The printer is compatible with Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows XP, Windows 2000, Windows Me, and Windows 2000.  Windows-based systems are optimized to work best with the PIXMA iP6210D.  Mac OS versions 10.2.1-10.4.x are also compatible with the printer.  Letter, Wallet-sized, U.S. #10 Envelopes, Credit Card (2.13 x 3.39), Legal, 4 x 6 inches, and 5 x 7 inches are sizes compatible for the printer.  The printer should not make much noise at 43 decibels.  The size of the PIXMA iP6210D is at 17.3 inches in width, 6.8 inches in height, 10.3 inches in depth, and 8.2 pounds should be relatively easy to handle on any stand or desktop.  The 100-sheet input tray is generous.

It contains a Buffer RAM of 42 Kilo Bytes that should be enough to work its printing processes in the background of a Personal Computer.  The bottom-line for this printer is that it is cheap, simple, mediocre quality output, easy-to-setup, and small.  It uses 11-Watts in operation and 1-Watt during standby.  Thus, the printer has earned the title of being Energy Star qualified.  It comes with a limited warranty of 1-year.  Additional warranty plans can be purchased from Canon for a fee.  Owners of the printer have distributed cons and pros of the printer equally, so it's pretty much ordinary 3-star printer.

Cons:

The iP6210D printer does not retain the 9600 x  2400 dots per inch that left an impression on the consumers as the previous models incorporated, thus, the quality of prints can be affected.  It takes too long for photos.  The older models, in contrast took less than half-a-minute to print 4 x 6 photos.  Would like to see this model integrate the functions of older models, like 9600 x 2400 resolution in color and print speeds of less than 30 seconds.  The smallest picoliter drop is 2.  This would be an exceptional device if the resolution for Color and Black both at 9600 x 2400 dots per inch.  If speed is not a priority, then this printer should be a mediocre printer for you.  Users have reviewed the printer as not capable of lab quality photos.  The printer is small enough to be portable.  It would not hurt to see these printers incorporate a battery for portability.  Canon PIXMA iP6210D will not copy, scan, or fax.
