When do I Replace a Toner Cartridge in the Toshiba E-Studio 162D Laser Printer?

The toner cartridge installed in your Toshiba E-Studio 162D Laser Printer is a consumable component. A new toner cartridge prints approx. 6,500 pages at 5% coverage. You can check the number of pages printed using the installed toner cartridge from the Total Count menu of the control panel. Please note that you can extend the useful life of the installed toner cartridge up to 10% by enabling the Toner Save Mode. The installed toner cartridge should be replaced if:

The [Error] LED blinks, and the following message [REPLACE THE TONER CARTRIDGE] is displayed – The installed toner cartridge has run out. You must install a new toner cartridge to be able to continue printing.

The [Error] LED blinks, and the following message [INSTALL A TONER CARTRIDGE] is displayed – You must make sure that the toner cartridge is correctly installed. Please install a new toner cartridge if the correct reinstallation does not help.

The [Error] LED blinks, and the following message [TONER CARTRIDGE IS NEAR EMPTY] is displayed – The installed toner cartridge is near the end of its useful life. You can continue printing/copying in this situation. However, prints/copies will gradually become lighter until the toner runs out. Therefore, you should install a new toner cartridge soon. The complete replacement procedure is included below.

How to Install a Toner Cartridge in the Toshiba E-Studio 162D Laser Printer

You must open the bypass tray, and then open the side cover by pulling its left part towards you while pressing the cover release button. After that, you must open the front cover of your Toshiba E-Studio 162D Laser Printer, and then remove the used toner cartridge by pulling it towards you while pressing its lock release button. Please do not shake the used toner cartridges. Now, you must remove the plastic bag from the new toner cartridge, shake the new toner cartridge 5-6 times horizontally, and then remove the toner seal. Please avoid touching the shutter of the new toner cartridge. In the next step of the installation, you must insert the toner cartridge firmly into the slot while pressing its lock release button, and then remove the protective shutter from the new component. Finally, you must close the front cover, and then close the side cover of your Toshiba E-Studio 162D Laser Printer.

Overview:

Toshiba's e-STUDIO 162D is the ultimate solution for your business printing needs. With this printer you get Scan Once/Print Many and Full Color Scanning capabilities. They will allow you to easily convert paper documents into electronic form for paperless distribution or archives. Output quality is outstanding with the Toshiba e-Studio 162D. Color images have outstanding colors and don’t show dithering.

Pros:

The e-Studio 162 features a stationary 8½” x 14” platen for scanning instead of a sliding platform. Its 37-pound output tray reduces the overall footprint of the multi-function.

One outstanding feature is the e-Studio 162’s easy to use control panel. Its keys make is easy to control. The control panel is easy to use thanks to a diagram of the copier that tells you where everything is located.

The Toshiba e-Studio offers resolutions of 600 x 600 dpi and allows you to judge exposure. Best of all you won’t have to wait more than 30 seconds for it to warm up and afterwards it will produce 16 pages per minute.

With this outstanding printer you can easily reduce or enlarge documents from 25% to 400% of the original in 1% increments or in 8 jumps.

The Toshiba e-Studio gives you many ways to set the copy quality. It can be done automatically or manually. With it you have the option of using the toner save mode when printing drafts.

It has the capability to scan using TWAIN, STI, and Microsoft’s WIA protocols. While printing and copying is in monochrome, the e-Studio can scan in straight black-and-white, 128 grayscale or in color. The e-Studio 162 can scan multiple single-sided pages automatically.

The e-Studio 162 has the capacity to hold up to 250 sheets of letter-sized or legal-size paper. Another 250-sheet tray can be attached. It also comes with a 50-sheet multi-purpose bypass tray for printing envelopes and transparencies.

It is easy to connect it using either a parallel or USB cable. It does a good job in printing monochrome text and graphics. Best of all it only requires 30 seconds to warm up and the first copy is out in 9.6 seconds.

Cons:

The e-Studio 162 uses the Samsung SPLC for its printing emulator. It doesn’t provide you with a HP PCL or Adobe PostScript emulators.

Another drawback of the e-Studio 162 is that it only supports Windows operating systems. If you want to print with Apple or Linux you will have to use their own printing services and built-in printer drivers.
