You should replace an installed toner cartridge(s), if its toner level is lower than 15%.

The HP Color LaserJet CP4005n Printer is equipped with a precise built-in system, which is constantly monitoring the status of all installed consumables. The built-in system will display one of the listed warning and error messages, if a toner cartridge related abnormality has been detected.

‘’10.90.X REPLACE [COLOR] CARTRIDGE’’ – This error message will be displayed when one or more toner cartridges are at the end of their useful life. You must replace the indicated toner cartridges to continue printing.

‘’10.X.X CARTRIDGES NOT ENGAGED’’ – The indicated toner cartridges are not firmly inserted/seated into the corresponding slots of the laser printer. You must make sure that all toner cartridges are correctly installed. The indicated toner cartridges will have to be replaced, if the issue persists.

‘’10.X.X SUPPLY MEMORY ERROR’’ – The HP Color LaserJet CP4005n Printer cannot read/write to the memory tag/chip of the indicated toner cartridge. Please note that the problematic toner cartridge will be indicated with a number from zero to three: 00 – Black, 01 – Cyan, 02 – Magenta, 03 – Yellow. You should try to resolve the issue by turning the laser printer off and then on. The specified toner cartridges must be replaced, if the issue persists.

‘’ [COLOR] CARTRIDGE IN WRONG POSITION’’ – The indicated toner cartridge is inserted in a wrong (regarding color) slot. You must reinstall all toner cartridges correctly.

‘’INCOMPATIBLE [COLOR] CARTRIDGE’’ or ‘’INCOMPATIBLE SUPPLIES’’ – The indicated toner cartridges cannot be used in your HP Color LaserJet CP4005n Printer. You must install new, compatible toner cartridges of the indicated colors.

‘’INSTALL SUPPLIES’’ – The built-in monitoring system cannot detect the specified toner cartridges. This could be due to missing cartridges, incorrect installation, or damaged/defective toner cartridges. You should try to resolve the problem by correctly reinstalling all toner cartridges. The indicated toner cartridges must be replaced, if the message continues to appear after the correct reinstallation.

‘’ORDER [COLOR] CARTRIDGE’’ or ‘’ORDER SUPPLIES’’ – The indicated toner cartridges are nearly empty. You should install new toner cartridges of the specified colors soon to avoid print quality issues caused by insufficient toner levels.

‘’REPLACE [COLOR] CARTRIDGE’’ or ‘’REPLACE SUPPLIES’’ – All print/copy operations are disabled due to insufficient toner levels. You must install new toner cartridges of the indicated colors to continue printing.

‘’TRANSFER UNIT CAN BE EASILY DAMAGED’’ – This message indicates that one or several toner cartridges are not firmly seated into the printer, which can cause damages to the installed transfer unit. Therefore, you must make sure that all toner cartridges are firmly inserted into the laser printer.

You should always keep a new toner cartridge set for your HP Color LaserJet CP4005n Printer in stock, but please store all consumables in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions. You can easily install a new toner cartridge(s) in your color laser printer by following the detailed instructions given below.

In the initial step of the replacement procedure, you must lift the top cover of your HP Color LaserJet CP4005n Printer until it is fully opened, and then lower the front cover along with the installed transfer unit.
