IMAGECLASS D680 TONER CARTRIDGE

Your Canon imageCLASS D680 is equipped with an L50 toner cartridge, which can print up to 5,000 A4 pages at 5% coverage. The actual useful life of the installed toner cartridge depends mainly on the copy exposure settings, the average percentage of page coverage, temperature, and humidity. Please be aware that the lifespan of the installed toner cartridge will be drastically decreased, if you copy with the ADF left open.

The Canon imageCLASS D680 displays appropriate warning messages on the control panel, when your attention is required. One of the listed warning messages will be displayed, when the installed toner cartridge needs to be replaced.

‘’INSTALL CARTRIDGE’’ – The toner cartridge is not installed, incorrectly installed, or damaged/faulty. Therefore, you must make sure that the toner cartridge is installed in accordance with the instructions given in ‘’How to Install a Toner Cartridge in the Canon imageCLASS D680’’. You must install a new toner cartridge, if the message is still displayed after the correct reinstallation.

‘’REPLACE CARTRIDGE’’ – You should prepare a new toner cartridge because the installed one is near the end of its useful life. Please be aware that the copy quality could be negatively affected by the low toner level.

‘’START AGAIN’’ – You should try to resolve the issue by loading paper into the input tray and specifying the correct paper size. You should also check the machine for paper jams. A new toner cartridge must be installed, if the problem persists.

Furthermore, the toner cartridge must be replaced, if the print quality is not what you expect.
You should always keep a spare toner cartridge for your Canon imageCLASS D680 in stock to avoid prolonged interruptions of your work. Please store the toner cartridge at temperatures between 68degreesF/20degreesC and 77degreesF/25degreesC with relative humidity between 40% and 70%.

To start with the replacement procedure, you must slide the platen unit to the left while lifting its releasing lever until the stop mark is visible. Then, you must fully open the cover of the toner cartridge compartment. After that, you must grasp the used toner cartridge, and carefully pull it out of the compartment. Next, you must remove the new toner cartridge from the protective bag, and then shake it 7-8 times vertically to ensure equal toner distribution. Now, you must remove the sealing tape from the new toner cartridge, and then align the cartridge with the guides of the compartment, so that the stamped guiding arrow points toward the compartment. Once the new toner cartridge is correctly aligned, you must insert it firmly into the Canon imageCLASS D680, and then close the cover of the toner cartridge compartment. In the concluding step of the replacement procedure, you must slide the platen unit back to its original position, and then test the machine by copying 5-6 pages.
