Copystar CS-1530 Review

Overview:

The Copystar CS-1530 is a stand-alone copier, and printer. This versatile machine can print up to 15 pages per minute. This copier/printer can also be used as a network printer, which allows the person using the machine to be able to hook the it up to several computers without having the added cords. This also allows several users to use the printer in an office building or small business. 

Pros:

This printer can print up to 15 pages or copies per minute. This gives the owner the option to be able to print and make copies rather quickly. This also allows the user to be able to print and make copies faster. This printer and copier can reduce cost and save money in a fast paced commercial environment. The printer also comes with a memory device and software CD ROM to install on the computer to manage the settings.

The printing memory for the copier/printer comes with an 8 MB of capacity as the standard storage ability. The memory can be upgraded to 136 MB through a DIMMS card.

The print speed for the copier/printer is at 15,000 pages per month at best. With an upgrade the printer can print up to 18,000 pages per month.
The resolution for the copier/printer is 600 DPI. The printer can print 2400 by 600 DPI as the resolution with upgrades. This gives the user the option to be able to print two to four images on one sheet of paper. The output resolution is 600 DPI. The printer supports various paper sizes such as Ledger, Legal, Letter, A4 and Invoice.

This copier/printer is an ideal choice if you are planning to use it as a network printer. This allows the company or the owner to allow multiple users to the printer without having to hard wire each computer to the machine.

This copier/printer can be used on Windows 9X/NT/2000 and any MAC computers.

This copier/printer can also add on a watermark, print out multiple pages, sort the pages, and collate the copies and print jobs. 

Cons:

This current model does not work with all versions of Windows. That means either the owner will have to get a version that is supported or get the add on to their current version. So, if you are not using a supported version of Windows, this printer is probably not the best choice for you.
This machine is 74lbs in weight. This is not easy to move often. It is best to be put in one spot and left alone. This machine should be put in the middle of the office near other paper supplies.

This machine has a paper tray holder but a very small one. It can only hold as small amount of paper and the rest of the reams would need to be stored elsewhere.

There is an optional 70 sheet automatic document feeder, but that is the max that it can do.

The average price for the machine is in the thousands. This machine should be purchased for small to medium businesses, and larger corporations.
This printer is not ideal for home or personal use since it can take up quite a bit of space and can run more than a laser printer. The machine is rather heavy and shouldn’t be moved often. It should be kept in one spot for easier access and use.

The additional memory can be purchased separately but will need to be cleared just like any other type of memory card. The memory can add up rather quickly and with the extra memory it only prints 3,000 more sheets than the regular version (without upgrade).

It can be set up hard wired, or as a network printer/copier. The copier/printer can be setup as a network printer you will need to be sure to have the correct version of Windows or used with a Mac computer.

The drums on the machine need to be replaced often. The recommended time frame is every 3-6 months. The drums need to be replaced often and usually will need a technician to come in and replace them.
