Toshiba E-Studio 280 Toner Cartridge - 23,000 Pages
  OVER 50

Price:  $27.89
Product Description
Toshiba E-Studio 280 Toner Cartridge - 23,000 Pages

This Toner Cartridge prints 23000 pages with an average 5% page coverage. The amount of pages can vary depending upon the amount of ink printed onto each page. (5% page coverage is a standard Toshiba specification)

This product comes with a 6 month Warranty against any defects (including free replacement). We stand behind our products 100%, as these are not manufactured by Toshiba.

Why toner? Why not call it ink? Regular ink dries quickly, which is why cartridges for inkjet printers do not last long. Laser Printers use toner, which is ink in the form of powder. A sealed toner cartridge can be stored for 2+ years prior to usage.

Toshiba E-Studio 280 - Loading Additional Staples

A saddle stitch finisher option is available for the Toshiba E-Studio 280 that helps to automatically staple stacks of output. When this units staples run out, a CHECK STAPLE CARTRIDGE message will be displayed and a short procedure must be followed to change the staples.

Begin the process by opening the front cover of the stapling finisher. Hold the GREEN handle and pull on the staple unit. It should come out easily. The handle itself can be turned so that the staple cartridge will be accessible. When it is in the proper position, remove the cartridge using BOTH HANDS.

Buttons on the sides of the cartridge are clearly marked PUSH. Press in on these buttons and the staple case will pop out. At this point a new staple case can be pressed into the cartridge until it locks into place, then the staple seal must be pulled free.

The staple cartridge itself must be returned to its ORIGINAL POSITION before it can be turned back into the staple unit. Once it is so, the staple unit can be pushed back into place and the front cover closed. The new staple cartridge does not need to be tested but the alert message should turn itself OFF.

Toshiba E-Studio 280 - Replacing Toner Cartridges

The Toshiba E-Studio 280 notifies users of a toner cartridge outage in two ways: a message that reads INSTALL NEW TONER CARTRIDGE, as well as a blinking replace cartridge symbol.

To replace the cartridge, begin by opening the front cover. Doing this will reveal the toner cartridge which can be released by pressing DOWN on the GREEN lever, which will in turn move the cartridge to the front position. The cartridge can now safely be pulled out of the machine.

When eliminating old toner cartridges, it is best to do so through an accredited recycling program and always store the cartridge in a plastic bag to prevent toner from spilling out. Another option is to store the old cartridge in the box that the new one was shipped in, but labeling it to avoid confusion.

The new toner cartridge must be properly prepared for entry before inserting it into the machine. To do this, first give the cartridge a vigorous shake to ensure that toner is distributed within the cartridge. Next, pull the seal labeled with a small arrow to expose the contact surface of the unit. It can now be inserted into the machine.

To install the cartridge, simply slide the unit carefully into the printer until it audibly snaps into position. Next, the unit’s bypass tray must be lowered. It can be released by a small lever and then dropped open. The transfer cover can then be opened as well which will reveal a very small cleaning tool located in a small front pocket.

This cleaning tool must be removed from its home and used to clean, as well as possible, the transfer charger wire. Be sure that the cleaning pads are making contact with the wire when attempting to completely clean it. When finished, be sure to place the cleaning tool safely back into its storage pocket.

At this point, the transfer charger can be closed, followed by the automatic duplexer, followed by the front cover to the unit, which can now be tested for proper operation.

Toshiba E-Studio 280 Review

The Toshiba E-Studio 280’s extra large touch screen and near automatic setup are just a couple of ways that this user friendly device makes it easy to operate a machine that is packed full of professional level print, copy, scan, and fax features and powerful expansion options.

With a maximum monthly duty cycle of 90,000 sheets, the Toshiba E-Studio 280 is capable of withstanding a whole office’s paper handling demands. Built in networking also makes it perfect for sharing, and allows special features such as network scanning to be taken full advantage of.

The Toshiba E-Studio 280 enhances its already impressive 2400 x 600 dot per inch print quality with a smoothing effect that further reduces a pixilated look. Scan quality tops out at only 600 dots per inch, but scans can be pumped out at 45 pages per minute at this quality with the help of the built in automatic document feeder (reversing automatic document feeder optional). When using 150, 200, 300, or 400 dot per inch scan quality, the unit can process pages at an amazing 60 per minute.

As a base unit, the Toshiba E-Studio 280 weighs in at around 165 pounds without paper, making it easily a two man moving job even without peripherals. Loads of additional hardware options can make this monster potentially much larger than its standard 25 x 28 x 29 inch (W x D x H) dimensions.

Printing, copying, scanning, faxing, and other features are processed with the help of the unit’s conservative but sufficient 266 MHz processor, while high yield toner cartridges help to keep the cost per page down.

Further consumable costs can be reduced by taking advantage of the Toshiba E-Studio 280’s standard duplexing function. When using the built in duplexor, double sided printing becomes fully automated by the unit, thus paper usage can be cut nearly in half.

Paper storage itself is up to par thanks to the device’s three standard paper trays and expansion options. Two extra large 550 sheet trays are accompanied by a 100 sheet stack feed bypass tray that brings the unit’s standard paper storage capacity up to a solid 1200 sheets. Multiple additional paper trays can be added including one or two 550 sheet trays and an enormous side by side 2,500 sheet paper drawer that, though expensive, could potentially save massive amounts of time spent restocking paper. Other expansion options include a job separator, an offset catch tray, and a multi position stapling finisher with saddle stitching.

Only minor gripes can be found when taking a broad look at the Toshiba E-Studio 280’s performance. Its print speed of 28 pages per minute is perhaps a little slow for the price when compared to the competition, but this can potentially be overlooked by many buyers. The 128 MBs of on board memory is also half that of other mid sized units on the market or less, though the unit does also come with a 40 GB hard drive to store individual data. Overall, the price of the unit is its most prohibiting aspect.
