HP COLOR LASERJET 2800 DRUM

The drum unit installed in your HP Color LaserJet 2800 Printer is a very important consumable component, which should be replaced before the complete exhaustion of its printing resource. The main function of this consumable component is to transfer toner from the installed cartridges as an image (text, graphics, text and graphics, pictures, etc.) on the chosen type of media/paper. Therefore, the work condition of the installed drum unit is directly defining the overall print quality results. A variety of print quality issues will appear on the documents, once the installed drum unit reaches near or at the end of its useful life. The most common print quality issues caused by an exhausted drum unit are listed below.

• Faded prints
• Dropouts
• Vertical streaks or bands
• Background shading
• Toner smears
• Marks repeatedly appearing at even intervals on the printed or/and unprinted side of the page

You should replace the installed drum unit when any of the listed above print quality issues appears. However, you should make sure that the print quality issues have not been caused by a faulty/damaged/exhausted toner cartridge before replacing the drum unit. Please be aware that the following message ‘’Unauthorized’’ will be displayed on the control LCD, if the installed new drum unit is a non-HP product.
The status information of the installed drum unit is available in the second section of the ‘’Supplies Status’’ page. You must navigate to [Reports] – [Supplies status] to print a status page.

In the first step, you must open the scanner assembly and the top cover. Then, you must carefully rotate the drum unit towards the rear side of the laser printer until its handle is at the top. In the next step, you must remove the exhausted drum unit by slowly pulling it out of the compartment, and then unpack the new component. Please be aware that any prolonged exposure of the new drum unit to direct light will result in permanent damages to this important consumable component. Please avoid touching the sensitive surface of the photoconductive drum. After that, you must remove the orange shipping pins, the orange shipping locks, the two orange shipping spacers, and the orange protective cover from the new drum unit. Once the new drum unit is completely unpacked, you must use the stamped arrows to correctly align it with the slot, and then insert the new component firmly into the laser printer. Finally, you must close the top cover and the scanner assembly of your HP Color LaserJet 2800 Printer.
