You should replace the installed drum unit if any of the listed error codes and print quality problems appears.

[C7410] – The Kyocera Mita KM-5050 Laser Printer will display this error code when absence of the drum unit is detected. The drum detection error could be caused by an incorrectly inserted drum connector or by a defective drum unit. You must make sure that the drum unit is correctly installed, and then test the laser printer. Please install a new drum unit if the problem persists.

[C7900] – The Kyocera Mita KM-5050 Laser Printer cannot read/write from/to the EEPROM of the installed drum unit. You should try to solve the problem by reinstalling the drum unit. Please install a new drum unit if the problem persists.

Print quality problems caused by a flawed drum unit:

In the first step of the replacement procedure, you must open the front cover of your Kyocera Mita KM-5050 Laser Printer, and then remove the toner cartridge and the waste toner container. Next, you must pull the pin out of the developing unit, and then turn the release lever of the developing unit to the left. After that, you must pull the developing unit out of the Kyocera Mita KM-5050 Laser Printer, and then remove the connector cover. Now, you must remove the main charger unit by pulling it towards you while pushing the hole (located above the installed main charger unit) with a sharp-pointed object, and then remove the screw from the front side of the exhausted drum unit. In the next step of the replacement procedure, you must remove the exhausted drum unit from the machine, and then install the replacement component by executing the current procedure in reverse order. Finally, you must reset the drum count by executing the short procedure included below.

Resetting the drum count

1. Press the [Start] key, and then press the [Status] key.
2. Enter [10871087].
3. Enter [110].
4. Press the [Start] key, and then enter [0].
5. Press the [Start] key.
