Product Description
Lanier 5613 Toner Cartridge - 7,000 Pages

This toner cartridge prints 7000 pages with average 5% coverage (Nearly all Printer manufacturers base their ink/toner cartridge yields on 5% page coverage).

This product comes with a 6 month Warranty against any defects (including free replacement). We stand behind our products 100%, as these are not manufactured by Lanier.

Why toner? Why not call it ink? Regular ink dries quickly, which is why cartridges for inkjet printers do not last long. Laser Printers use toner, which is ink in the form of powder. A sealed toner cartridge can be stored for 2+ years prior to usage.

Product Manuals
When do I Replace a Toner Cartridge in the Lanier 5613 Multifunctional Device?
The Lanier 5613 Multifunctional Device features a built-in system, which is constantly monitoring the installed toner cartridge. Once the toner level becomes too low, you will see the following message ‘’Toner is Almost Empty’’ in the control display, and the ‘’Add Toner’’ indicator will be lit. You will be still able to print approximately 50 more copies/prints, after the initial appearance of the above warning message. However, the print quality will be drastically decreased, and eventually the toner will be completely consumed, which will lead to the disabling of all printing/copying operations. Herein, you should always keep a spare toner cartridge for your Lanier 5613 Multifunctional Device.
How to Install a Toner Cartridge in the Lanier 5613 Multifunctional Device
The toner cartridge replacement in your Lanier 5613 Multifunctional Device is a very easy procedure, which requires less than 10 minutes for complete execution. In the initial step of the replacement procedure, you must open the front cover, and then locate the exhausted toner cartridge. After that, you must lift, push in, and then pull towards you the green lever of the toner cartridge holder, until the holder is out of the printer's slot. Then, you must gently push the exhausted toner cartridge towards the slot, in order to raise its front side. Now, you will be able to completely remove the exhausted toner cartridge from the printer by pulling it towards you at an angle of 45 degrees. Once the old/exhausted toner cartridge is out of the printer, you must unpack, and then shake the new cartridge 5-6 times horizontally. In the next step of the replacement procedure, you must remove the black sealing cap and insert the new toner cartridge into the toner cartridge holder. After that, you must push the toner cartridge holder in, until it clicks, and then push down its green lever. Finally, you can close the front cover of your Lanier 5613 Multifunctional Device and continue with your next printing/copying project.

Lanier 5613 Review

Overview:

With an optional fax modem and automatic document feeder available for the Lanier 5613, the unit, as is, is a fairly bare bones stand alone personal copy machine. The unit does not even include the ability to connect to a PC as a printer as a standard feature, requiring an additional printer module for this function. This makes this already flimsy performer even less desirable to anyone in need of multifunctionality without the hassle of additional hardware.

Pros:

While desktop stand alone copy machines have pretty much gone the way of the dinosaur to make room for the much more common 3 in 1 and 4 in 1 laser devices of today, the Lanier 5613 remains available for purchase online at bargain rates. The unit’s slow performance speed and overall dated specifications make it less than attractive to someone looking for the latest in print technology, but does not stop it from executing a variety of basic stand alone copy functions, as well as a few additional functions when the hardware additions are included.

The Lanier 5613F version of the machine includes a 33.6 Kbps fax modem with auto shiftdown as part of the package, allowing the unit to function as a stand alone fax machine that can transmit at a rate of about 3 seconds per page. The automatic document feeder also becomes standard on this version of the model, though it must be purchased additionally on the Lanier 5613 base model.

16 single touch dial keys are included in the Lanier 5613F version of the device for very rapid fax transmission, as are 50 abbreviated codes for additional rapid access to commonly used destination numbers. The unit is also capable of scanning at a rate of about 2.4 seconds per page, so it is possible that input material will finish scanning into memory even before it is transmitted.

The paper supply for the machine comes in the form of a 250 sheet standard paper tray that is compatible with the usual letter and legal sized paper, while the device’s bypass tray is shockingly hefty with its 100 sheet capacity, allowing users to have a second storage tray for standard paper or to load up special media types such as envelopes and card stock. One additional tray carrying up to 500 sheets of 20 lb paper can be added to the device to boost its overall storage capacity.

Cons:

With a maximum copy speed of only 13 pages per minute, the Lanier 5613 is quite slow by pretty much any standards, especially ones involving monochrome laser printers. This painfully slow machine also takes its sweet time to put out a first copy page, clocking in at a full 8 seconds for a first copy under the best circumstances.

Though it is always great to have hardware expansion options, the Lanier 5613’s extremely basic initial setup is much more of a down side than a plus. With any form of multifunctionality available only with additional purchases or an upgraded base model, the device is simply too limited to compete with the exceedingly versatile yet affordably priced MFCs available today.
